DeCaires Dismantles Fourth of July Field

In what is his 25th year of racing, Greg DeCaires is showing everyone that he hasn’t lost a step. During his 10th start of the season on Saturday night, DeCaires charged from the eighth starting spot to win his fifth race of the season in convincing fashion in front of a standing room only crowd.

“The Fourth of July race is for the fans, and it is a race you look forward to running, and hopefully winning, year after year,” Greg DeCaires said. “It always attracts some added competition, so we approached the night with a ‘take no prisoners’ mind set.”

On a balmy Independence Day at the Placerville Speedway, DeCaires would get the Dale Miller Plumbing and Septic/Foothill 7 TV/RedHawk Casino No. 4SA machine timed in fifth fastest to open the night up.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, the Elk Grove, CA driver would race his way to a third place finish as he made his Halk Equipment Rentals/NAAKE Suspension/A.R.T. Speed Equipment machine eligible for the Top-Eight redraw.

Pulling the eight pill, DeCaires would line his machine up in the fourth row for the 20-lap main event. On an extremely well prepared racing surface, ‘The Catfish’ wasted no time getting to the front as he was up to the second spot by the time the third lap was completed.

Chasing after Matt Peterson, DeCaires would take over the top-spot on the fifth lap as the caution was needed for the early leader. Once in front, it was smooth sailing for the veteran driver, as he seemingly opened his lead up lap-after-lap. Following a lap-12 caution that erased a healthy lead, DeCaires drove away from the field over the final eight laps as he picked up his fifth win of the season as he chases after another Placerville Speedway track championship.

“I can’t thank all of my sponsors, and our crew enough for what they do for this race team,” DeCaires added. “I also want to thank Dale and Tara Miller for all they do for me, and allowing me to be a part of this.”

Greg DeCaires and the Dale Miller Motorsports team would like to thank Dale Miller Plumbing and Septic, Foothill 7 TV, RedHawk Casino, Halk Equipment Rentals, NAAKE Suspension, A.R.T. Speed Equipment, Frank’s Auto Body Shop, Hangtown Sheet Metal and Wesmar Racing Engines for their support.

2015 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts- 10, Wins- 5, Top-5’s-10, Top-10’s-10

ON TAP: DeCaires and the Miller Motorsports team will be back at the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night for another night of Championship point racing.
