Wingless Series Debuts at Ocean Speedway Saturday Night!

(- Aptos, CA)For the second time this season, the Wingless Series Presented by Joe Hunt Magnetos make it’s season debut at a new track as the stars and cars invade the Ocean Speedway on Saturday night during the 5th Annual Howard Kaeding Classic as they again share the stage with the King of the West Series.

 

Since moving under the Prentice Motorsports Group banner in 2015, the Wingless Series Presented by Joe Hunt Magnetos has continued to grow in popularity as much of the season has been ran alongside the ever popular King of the West and Civil War Series’ respectively, as the series continues to run in front of new faces on a nightly basis.

 

After making their debut at the Calistoga Speedway back in April, the series takes to a new market on Saturday night as the hit the always racy Ocean Speedway located on the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds for what will be the first of two stops this season.

 

Through five exciting events thus far in 2015, Brentwood, CA driver Colton Slack leads the series into battle on Saturday night. With a win already under his belt, Slack holds a slim 13-point lead over second running, Gary Nelson, Jr.

 

The aforementioned Nelson, Jr is hungry for his first win of the season coming into Saturday’s event fresh off of a pair of podium finishes. Spending much of his career running at the Ocean Speedway, the San Jose, CA driver is primed to pick up one of the biggest races on the series’ schedule on Saturday night.

 

Early season point leader, and two-time feature event winner in 2015, Joe Stornetta sits third in the standings just 31 points out of the top spot. After a red-hot start to the season, Stornetta saw bad luck at the Stockton Speedway two races ago set him back though he is still very much alive in the Championship hunt.

 

Two weeks ago at the Calistoga Speedway, Terry Schank Jr was the man to beat. Picking up the win in convincing fashion, Schank was pressured at times by Nelson, Stornetta, and Klint Simpson.

 

Action packed races have been the norm in 2015 and the exciting Ocean Speedway should put on another exciting show for the fans. Other drivers expected to be on hand Saturday night include Tommy Laliberte, Shane Myhre, Klint Simpson, Nick Larson, Zach Kavert, Shawn Jones, Bradley and John Clark, Austin Liggett and many more.

 

Saturday night tickets will go on sale starting at $15 for children 6-12, with adult General Admission tickets being sold for $25, while children five and under will be admitted for free. The front gate is scheduled to open at 3pm with hot laps and qualifying to follow the 4pm drivers meeting.

 

With the Civil War Series taking to the speedway on Friday night, camping is available on the grassy area behind the main grandstands. Spots with hook ups will be $40 a night, while dry camping spots are available for $20 a night.

 

The Howard Kaeding Classic brings a ton of activities for fans and drivers starting with the 2nd Annual HK Classic Car Show and BBQ at the High Five Pizza located at the Silver Creek Sports Plex in San Jose on July 8th  from 5pm-9pm.

 

Following Friday night’s Civil War race, High-Five Pizza will be busy again as they host the annual post race party in the pit area. With appetizers and drinks on hand, fans are invited to come out and mingle with their favorite drivers.

 

Saturday afternoon the Catering By 5 crew will be back on hand for the annual NARC Benevolent Fund Luncheon. With all proceeds from the $20 lunch as well as the raffle going into the Benevolent Fund, all are invited out to help raise money to support drivers and their families should they be injured.

 

 

ON TAP: The Wingless Series Presented by Joe Hunt Magnetos will be in action at the Ocean Speedway on Saturday night during the Howard Kaeding Classic.

JOE HUNT MAGNETOS SPRINT CAR SERIES- Joe Hunt Magnetos’ Roger Gleason brought the traveling concept to non-wing sprint cars by popular demand. Over the years, the Joe Hunt Magnetos Sprint Car Series has ran a limited schedule at select tracks around the state.
