BILLINGS, Mont. (Aug. 3, 2015) – A late decision to compete in Montana paid dividends for Travis Rilat last weekend.

Rilat won his heat race both nights and claimed a feature victory during his season debut with the ASCS Frontier Region, giving him and car owner Richard Saumure their third victory together this year.

“I wish we could have swept the weekend, but it’s good any time you can get a win,” Rilat said. “We had a good car from start to finish both nights.”

The weekend kicked off last Friday at Gallatin Speedway in Belgrade, Mont., where Rilat advanced from fourth to win a heat race. That locked him into the feature redraw and he pulled the No. 6 during the random draw to start on the outside of the third row for the main event.

“We got up to third pretty quickly and then took advantage of a restart midway through the race to make a move for second,” he said. “A lap later we drove around the leader and pulled away.”

The weekend concluded on Saturday at Billings Motorsports Park, where Rilat claimed a heat race after starting on the outside of the front row. That was good enough to advance him into the feature redraw and after pulling the second-highest number – seven – he lined up on the inside of the fourth row for the feature.

“It took me about half the race to get to second and I just didn’t have enough to make a move for the lead,” he said. “It would have been great to sweep the weekend, but we’ll take another podium finish.”

Rilat ended in the runner-up position, which marked his 15th top five of the season. He now has nine top-five finishes in 11 races this season with Saumure.
