Morris, IL—With the 2015 D’Arcy GMC STARS season dwindling down to its final four events, the points battle for the National Midget Division is heating up. Three wins on the season have placed Brad Greenup atop the standings by a slim 36 point lead over Plainfield’s Tyler Baran. Though winless on the season, a string of podium and top five finishes have kept Baran in the hunt as of recent. Former Rookie of the Year, Ryan Probst is still looking for his first career National Midget victory, but finds himself 78 points behind in third.

Billy Hulbert kicked off the month of August with a win in the 24th annual “Illinois State Championship”. The 25 year old veteran out of Channahon, Illinois is looking to pick up back to back wins for the second time in his career. This season, Hulbert rolled a brand new Spike chassis out of the trailer. While most drivers seem to struggle at the beginning with new cars trying to find the right setup, Hulbert has been fast from day one. A disqualification and mechanical failure back in July hurt his chances for his first career championship, but the confidence remains the same for Hulbert and that’s to win races and be the one to beat each week. Greenup stated, “Billy looked like Kyle Hamilton out there last week. Bad fast and hard to catch, especially when he went up top.”

This Saturday, the cars and stars of the D’Arcy GMC Short Track Auto Racing Series return to the Grundy County Speedway with the gates opening at 4:30 and the first race taking place at 6:00pm. Come see one of the closest points battles in STARS history, and find out who will come out or stay on top.
