BYRAM, Miss. (Aug. 18, 2015) – Derek Hagar swept a USCS doubleheader last weekend to give him eight feature victories this season and five wins in his last nine races.

Hagar, who now has 35 career USCS triumphs, also extended his winning streak to three consecutive years at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, Miss., and two straight at Jackson Motor Speedway.

“We had a good weekend,” he said. “We knew as a team we had a good car. It was up to me to perform and try to win the race. It worked out at both race tracks.”

The weekend began last Friday at Greenville Speedway, where Hagar won his heat race from the pole. That locked him into the feature, which he started on the inside of the front row.

“I think (Tim) Crawley got by me early with a slide job during a restart,” he said. “I rode around behind him for several laps. On a restart before halfway I slid him back and took the lead back. We threw some slide jobs and I overcame that. He threw a slider on me on a late-race restart in turns three and four, but I got back by him.”

Momentum continued on Saturday at Jackson Motor Speedway. Hagar finished where he started – fourth – during the dash, which gave him extra laps on the track. He then rallied from sixth to third place in a heat race. The six-car feature inversion lined Hagar up on the inside of the second row for the 30-lap main event.

“We got up to second pretty quick,” he said. “I believe we took the lead on Lap 10 and led the rest of the race. The lapped cars were real thick and some didn’t know where they wanted to go. We had a caution and about two or three laps later we got in traffic and I threw a hail mary slide job on the leader in turns three and four and cleared him. We never had any issues after that.”

The win was Hagar’s sixth with the USCS this season.

He will race with the series this Friday and Saturday at Senoia Raceway in Senoia, Ga.
