Port Royal – Port Royal Speedway hosts Locust Grove Retirement Village Night this Saturday, August 29 at 7 pm, featuring the only appearance of the season at the oval by the winged super sportsman cars.

 

Also on the racing agenda is the Weikert’s Livestock 410 sprints and the super late models.

 

Locust Grove Retirement Village, located just a few minutes from Port Royal Speedway in Mifflin PA, is a 104-bed skilled nursing rehab facility that offers a dedicated short-term rehab unit with 26 beds.

 

Nearly two years have gone by since the popular super sportsman cars last saw competition at Port Royal Speedway.

 

Scott Geesey scored the most recently completed sportsman race at the track back on October 12, 2013.

 

Frankie Herr leads all drivers on the all-time Port Royal super sportsman win list with 5.

 

Other drivers with more than one win to their credit at Port Royal in sportsman action include: Rich Eichelberger, Dave Calaman, Don Beaver, Bob Fannasy, Keith Prutzman and the late Smokey Snellbaker.

 

Adult admission for the August 29 show is priced at $16 with students ages 12 – 18 admitted for the usual low price of just $7.

 

Next week the oval breaks into its busiest time period of the season when it hosts a total of seven track events during the course of eight days as part of the 161st annual Juniata Count Fair.

 

The fair kicks off on September 5 with the annual UFO Late Model Butch Renninger Memorial along with 410 sprints, econo lates and xtreme stocks.

 

The frontstretch hosts the wildly exciting Interstate Truck and Tractor Pullers series on September 6 at 7 pm.

 

September 7 finds the oval in action twice with the Labor Day Classic for 410 sprints at 1 and a Demolition Derby at 6 pm.

 

Tim Chitwood’s Legends Stunt Show is September 9 and the two-day All Star Circuit of Champions Tuscarora 50 races climax the week on September 11 and 12.
