( Watsonville, CA)- Saturday night at the Ocean Speedway, the Wingless Series presented by Joe Hunt Magnetos put on it’s second thrilling race of the year at the Santa Cruz County facility as Klint Simpson used a late restart to claim his second win of the season.

After making a late race move to claim the Dash win, Klint Simpson would lead the field to green and get the early lead as Cody Fendley and Gary Nelson Jr flanked him, on what was an extremely racy surface on this night.

Behind the lead trio, Austin Ligget was making some moves on the thick Ocean Speedway cushion, as he moved into the fourth spot before overtaking Nelson for the third spot on the seventh lap.

While Ligget was carving his way forward, Simpson was well in command up front, as the race for second would heat up, and allow him to break free. With Liggett getting by Fendley on the ninth lap, it was not long before Simpson would be under fire.

As the duo battled, Liggett took command of the race lead on the 11th lap, and instantly opened up a sizeable lead. With Liggett out front, the race behind him was entertaining as Simpson, Fendley, and Nelson battled until the race’s first caution flag flew on the 13th lap.

With Liggett continuing to lead the pace over Simpson and Fendley, Sean Jones would work his way into the top five. A lap 20 restart would see Simpson make a big time move on Liggett to grab the top spot, but Liggett would return the favor a lap later and reassume command of the race.

Looking to be on his way to victory lane as the white flag flew, yellow lights would quickly flash restacking the field for one final restart. The restart would prove pivotal in the finish as Simpson would again get the better of Liggett as they took the green and white flags together, and would hold him off coming to the checkered flag by an advantage of .026 seconds.

Fendley would hold on to third, Nelson Jr fourth, Jones fifth, Evan Bonnema sixth, Jim Christian seventh, John Clark eight, Terry Schank would finish ninth after starting at the tail end of the field, and Christian Hickman would round out the Top-10.
