Wentworth, NH (9/6/15) – Stop 13 of the 2015 NAPA/Ossipee Auto Parts Sprint Cars of New England at Legion Speedway brought the series sponsor out with fan give-aways and product awards for the podium finishers. Fans were treated to NAPA hats as they arrived at the track and the SCoNE drivers tossed autographed foam footballs into the stands at intermission. This was a nice treat for the loyal sprint car fans. And as for the racing, that certainly didn’t disappoint as SCoNE put on another great show.
In the first qualifier, Patrick Smith started on the pole and there was no catching him as he led every lap and took the win. Lacey Hanson and Jake Williams battled side by side in the second qualifier until with 2 to go, Jake got by on the inside for the win.
SCoNE points leader Dan Douville sat on the pole for the NH Groundscapes Dash for Cash and 5 wicked fast laps later, Dan pocketed the $100 in cash for the win.
Starting on the outside pole of the A-main, Dennis McLeod grabbed the early lead and held it until Luke Greenwood came rocketing by on lap 5. The first of 3 restarts came on lap 10 with a spin. With Scott Holcomb and Kevin Chaffee lined up behind him, Luke got a great restart and held the lead while Holcomb and Chaffee fought for the second spot. A tangle by Lacey Hanson and Will Hull on lap 20 brought out the second yellow. Again, Luke got a great restart and out ran a determined Kevin Chaffee. The final stop was on lap 25 when Jake Williams jumped the cushion and went hard into the turn 2 wall bringing out a red flag. Jake was fine, but his #73 race car was done for the night. Still another incredible restart by Luke kept him in front of a hard charging Kevin Chaffee. With Luke’s car running out of fuel on the white flag lap, Kevin tried to get by on the inside, but Luke’s car found enough fuel to maintain the lead, giving Luke his first SCoNE points race win. Another action packed, NAPA/Ossipee Auto Parts sprint car show!
