PORT ROYAL, Pa. – Opening Day 2016 at Port Royal Speedway is now under one month away with the historic oval slated to swing into action on Saturday, March 12 at 6 pm.

The lidlifter will include the Weikert’s Livestock 410 sprints and the super late models.

Last year, East Berlin pilot Aaron Ott scored the opening day victory on April 4 while Shermansdale’s Mike Lupfer began what was to be a dominating early season by winning his first of three in a row for the super late models.

The sprint cars will race for $3,500 to win in the opener while the super lates compete for $2,000.

Port Royal Speedway is slated to see action prior to the official season opener however as practice sessions are planned for Saturday, March 5 and Thursday night, March 10.

The sessions are open to any division on the 2016 schedule of events with Saturday’s practice running from 1 – 4 pm and the Thursday session slated from 6 – 9.

Port Royal continues during the month of March with racing on March 19 and 26.

The March 19 show again includes the same two divisions of 410 sprints and super lates while the March 26 show kicks the season into high gear with a big show for the UFO Super Late Models and the UFO 358 late models along with the 410 sprint cars.

Season admission passes and seats remain on sale at the speedway office with hours on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Orders may also be placed by US mail.

The full 2016 Port Royal schedule of events was recently released featuring 31 total race dates from March through October.
