Tulsa, OK — (March 8, 2016) — The Griffith Truck and Equipment ASCS Gulf South Region presented by Southern Trailer Works has been dormant log enough, as the green flag is set to fly for the first time in 2016 with a Texas double header this Friday, March 11 at the Golden Triangle Raceway Park in Beaumont, Texas and Saturday, March 12 at the Battleground Speedway in Highlands, Texas.

Marking the 15th year of touring for the ASCS Gulf South Region, 2016 marks the ninth time in as many years the Golden Triangle Raceway Park has opened the ASCS Gulf South Region’s season. Over the past eight years, seven different drivers have opened up the season with a win. Gary Wright (2009 and 2010) is the only driver to repeat in the season opening event.

A high-banked, one-third mile oval just outside Beaumont, Texas this Friday’s appearance is the first of three on the season, including the 2016 finale on September 4.

In stark contrast to the Golden Triangle Raceway Park, a short trip to Highlands, Texas finds the Battleground Speedway. Ultra high-banked, and measuring just shy of four-tenths of a mile, the Battleground Speedway has been a part of the Gulf South’s lineup since 2003. The series last appearance at the Battleground Speedway saw Sam Hafertepe, Jr. in Victory Lane while Kevin Ramey clinched the Championship.

Friday, March 11 at the Golden Triangle Raceway Park will get underway at 7:45 P.M. (CT) and will include Jr. Mini Stocks, Factory Stocks, Street Stocks, and Limited Modifieds. For more information on the Golden Triangle Raceway Park, log onto http://www.grtpbmt.com or call (409) 752-RACE (7223).

Saturday, March 12 at the Battleground Speedway is scheduled to begin at 7:00 P.M. (CT) and presented by Griffith Truck and Equipment, A-Z Wright’s Tree Service, and O’Reilly Auto Parts. The night’s cars also includes Factory Stocks, Limited Modifieds, and Classic Dwarf Cars. For more information, log onto http://www.battleground-speedway.com or call (832) 614-0042.
