Nightly awards to continue in 2016 with the Ocean Sprints

Watsonville, CA – (March 28, 2016) – The Ocean Sprints presented by Taco Bravo are pleased to announce that the various nightly incentives, including the fast time award, hard luck award and hard charger award will continue during the 2016 racing season.

Each of the awards will pay $100 cash at all of the 15 Ocean Sprints events this year at the Ocean Speedway in Watsonville.

Returning for the sixth consecutive year as sponsor of the Ocean Sprints presented by Taco Bravo fast time award will be Santa Clara County based Ray Scheidts Electric.

Ray Scheidts Electric Inc. is an electrical contracting firm for commercial and industrial projects. Since 1962, they have designed and constructed numerous power and control systems for major companies throughout Santa Clara County and the Bay Area. Ray Scheidts Electric is owned by Rich & Steve Morin and has been the sponsor of the fast time award for the Ocean Sprints presented by Taco Bravo ever since it was introduced in 2011.

In addition to sponsoring the fast time award Ray Scheidts Electric has also sponsored various teams over the years, including Brad Furr, Steve Osborne Motorsports, Keith Day Racing & others. The “Ray Scheidts Electric Fast Time Award” has become a further incentive to drivers and teams, not only for bragging rights, but for the additional cash they can pick up for turning the fastest qualifying lap of the night.

The Ocean Sprints presented by Taco Bravo enters its seventh year of offering the hard charger award and its third under the sponsorship of long-time auto racing supporter Myles McEntee and High Five Pizza.

High Five Pizza features two locations in San Jose, which includes Branham & Snell Ave in the Safeway Shopping Center and at the Silver Creek Sportsplex off Hellyer Road in San Jose. High Five at the Plex is in the center of the Silver Creek Complex overlooking the activities. Both locations have plenty of big screen TV’s to watch sporting events, with food specialties including Pizza, Sandwiches and Salads.

The High Five at Branham offers BBQ every Wednesday night from 5pm to 9pm, while High Five at the Silver Creek Sportsplex offers Prime Rib dinner every Thursday night from 5pm to 9pm. The company also does fantastic catering under the name “Catering by Five.”

High Five Pizza has been a long-time supporter of San Jose area sports, including motorsports, which it has used to help market the brand. The hard luck award is back in 2016 with the support of Jason & Jeremy Chisum promoting their company Beer Optics. The “Beer Optics Hard Luck” award will go to the driver during the night that is deemed to have had that roughest of them all. The Chisum brothers & Beer Optics are partnering up with the award again to try and benefit the small budget teams who have trouble during the night. This is the third straight season that Beer Optics has supported the hard luck award. The Chisum brothers have been big supporters of Ocean Speedway, bringing a two car effort each week to the Ocean Sprints.

The Ocean Sprints presented by Taco Bravo will kick-off the 2016 season on Friday April 8 with the first of 15 scheduled events this year.

The front gate at Ocean Speedway will open at 4:30pm on Friday April 8 with qualifying around 6pm. All seating will be general admission with adult tickets $17, seniors 65 & older $16, children 6-12 $13 and kids five and under free. A family pack featuring two adults and two kids is available for $55.
