The United Rebel Sprint Series will kick off it’s 11th season at the Wakeeney Speedway in Wakeeney Ks. with the first of fourteen nights of racing in 2016 at the historic 3/8’s mile facility this Sunday night. The recent co-sanction with the IMCA 305 Racesaver Series will once again crown an IMCA Kansas Sprint Car Champion for the first time in decades.  The partnership will allow racers to compete IMCA Regional and National points and will help draw racers from a four state region during the 2016 season.

Once again Myer’s Racing Engines will be the title sponsor for the URSS National Point Championship. This year racers will hit the track for twelve scheduled National events in three states to see if they can dethrone the reigning Champion Jake Bubak who has taken the top prize three consecutive seasons, a feat that Series Founder Rick Salem thought could never been done. 2016 will see the Rebels racing twice at Longdale, Oklahoma, Belleville Highbanks, three times at Dodge City, the three day swing at Wakeeney then two nights at RPM Speedway for the “Wheatshocker Nationals”

the always fast racing action at the “Bullring Nationals” in LaCrosse and at the Colorado Motorsports Park. Look for past champions Brian Herbert, Ty Williams, CJ Johnson and Ray Seemann and a host of talented veterans and young guns to give all the fans an exciting 2016 National Championship chase.

Defending his 2015 Kansas Region crown will be Quinter’s Zach Blurton. Blurton used an incredible string of solid finishes along with three wins and a single DNF to capture the championship. This year promises to be another stellar year as New this year is the addition of transponder scoring loops at 10 of the URSS/IMCA Racesaver tracks. This will bring yet another level of consistency to the scoring process and improve the racing show for all of the teams, drivers, sponsors and fans in the stands.

Joining the URSS/IMCA Racesaver Sprints this Sunday at Wakeeney Speedway will be Hobby Stocks/Bombers, Sport Compacts, Stock Cars and the Crazy Cruisers. Pits open at 3:00, Grandstands at 5:00, Hot Laps at 6:00 and the racing action starts at 6:30.
