In the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series most recent visit to Wilmot Raceway in 2014, David Gravel picked up the win over Joey Saldana and Paul McMahan. Gravel started on the pole, with Saldana taking the lead on the initial start. Saldana would lead seven laps, before Gravel got by to take the top spot and ultimately the win.

The World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series raced for the first time at Wilmot Raceway in 2006, with Mark Dobmeier, who was filling in for Brooke Tatnell, scoring his first-career series win in one of the most thrilling events in series history. Dobmeier edged Jeremy Campbell and Daryn Pittman by mere inches in a thrilling last lap battle for the win. Each driver led at one point during the final lap, with Campbell ending up second and a spinning Pittman crossing the line third.

Pittman would make up for that near-miss when the series returned to Wilmot in 2008. He traded the lead a couple of times with Chad Kemenah in the first half of the race, before pacing the final 19 circuits to score the win.

The 2016 season is well under way for the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series, with Brad Sweet leading the standings over Shane Stewart. Sweet, who drives for Kasey Kahne Racing, has five wins thus far in 2016. Stewart has been a model of consistency, as he is tied with Sweet for having the most top-10 finishes. Pittman, the 2013 series champion, is currently third in points and has three wins. Donny Schatz, the seven-time and defending series champion, is tied for the series lead with five wins for his Tony Stewart Racing team and sits fourth in the standings. Saldana rounds out the current top-five in the standings.

Battling the aforementioned drivers in 2016 is a talented group of full-time competitors, including veteran drivers Jason Sides, Terry McCarl, up-and-coming young drivers, David Gravel, who has a victory already this season, Logan Schuchart and Jacob Allen, as well as sophomore driver Jason Johnson, who won earlier this season in California and rookie contender Greg Wilson from Ohio.
