FREMONT, Ohio – The next month of racing at Fremont Speedway will certainly live up to “The Track That Action Built” moniker.
“The next six events will be off the chart as far as entertainment and excitement are concerned,” said Rich Farmer, Promoter of Fremont Speedway. “There’s something special and different during each show for fans of all ages.”
It begins Saturday, May 21 on Root’s Poultry Night. It will be Armed Forces Day at the track with $5 general admission to all military personnel – past and present – who present their military identification. A color guard representing each branch of the armed forces will be in attendance for the night’s opening ceremony.
Racing will be the Fort Ball Pizza Palace 410 Sprints; Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 Sprints; Burmeister Trophy Dirt Trucks; and the McCullough Industries 602 Late Models. Gates open at 4 p.m. with racing slated at 7 p.m.
Then it’s a HUGE two days of racing over Memorial Day Weekend. It begins Saturday, May 28 on Jon Wright’s CustomChrome Plating Presents Al Franks Day.
Prior to the night’s racing there will be an American Red Cross Blood drive in the Fremont Speedway Hall of Fame from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Those donating bled who pre-register prior to the blood drive will get a free t-shirt.
Also, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver Rico Abreu will be present a program on anti-bullying in conjunction with the Pace National Bully Prevention Foundation during the opening ceremonies. Fans are encouraged to wear orange to represent Unity Day which will be held in October. There will be information available for fans to take with them about bullying along with raffles and give-aways.
Saturday’s event will be a Kistler Racing Products FAST Championship Series Presented by KS Sales and Service event for the 410 sprints and will pay $5,000 to win and $500 to start the feature. Farmer said all non-transfer cars will get $300.
“This will be the biggest purse in the eight year history of FAST. This series is growing with more drivers than ever before. I can’t say enough great things about all the marketing partners who help promote the FAST series,” Farmer said.
The 305 sprints will compete for $1,000 to win their feature event. The dirt trucks will also be in competition.
Gates will open at 4 p.m. with racing under way at 7 p.m.
“This race is a way for us to thank our loyal race teams with increased prize money. Every 410 sprint car that makes a competitive lap will get a minimum of $300,” Farmer said.
And, as a way to say thank-you to the fans, tickets are only $18 for adults; $16 for senior citizens; $12 for students; with kids 10 and under getting in free. A pit-pass is $35
Racing will resume Sunday, May 29th on Budweiser Beer Presents the Mike Hensel Memorial. The night’s racing will feature the second appearance of the season of the Rick’s Truck & Equipment Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series (BOSS). The non-wing sprint cars will battle for $5,000 to win and $333 to start the feature. Also, all non-transfer cars will get $200.
Several BOSS drivers will also be available to meet fans and sign autographs prior to the night’s racing.
It will be a JLH General Contractor 305 FAST Series Presented by Engine Pro point event with the 305 sprints once again battling for $1,000 to win their feature. The 602 late models will also be in action.
Gates will open at 4 p.m. with racing underway at 7 p.m.
Tickets for Sunday night are $20 for adults; $18 for senior citizens; $12 for students; with kids 10 and under getting in free. A pit-pass is $35.
However, if fans purchase a two-day ticket the cost is only a total of $35 for adults; $30 for senior citizens; and $20 for students (ages 11-16).
On Friday, June 3, the best sprint car drivers in the world invade Fremont Speedway for the Ohio Logistics Presents the Kistler Engines Smack Down featuring the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series. The feature winner will earn $10,000!
The 305 sprints will be featured in twin features – even in points in one and odd in points in the other. The late models will also be in action.
Gates will open at 3 p.m. for this event with racing scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

The National Tractor Pullers Association and the Sandusky County Ag Society will present a four-class truck and tractor pull at the Fremont Speedway on Saturday, June 4 beginning at 7 p.m.
In high performance pulling, participants strive to drag a metal sled weighing up to 20 tons the greatest distance along a straight, dirt track. Competitors build highly specialized vehicles that resemble farm tractors, trucks, and dragsters and battle for purse money and end-of-season championships. The Fremont, Ohio event is part of the NTPA’s Regional National event series; participants will earn points toward championships in Region II (Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio) and berths in the Enderle Pull-Off all-star invitational on Saturday, September 17.
Taking center stage at the Fremont pull will be RN classes of Limited Pro Stock and Super Farm Tractors, Two-Wheel-Drive Trucks, and Multi-Engine Modifieds. Expected to defend their 2015 Region II titles will be Brad Boldry of Rochester, Indiana (“Smoke Fever” Limited Pro), Shane Masten of Niles, Michigan (“Thumpin’ Pumpkin” Super Farm), Marty Clock of Hartford City, Indiana (“Just Like Clockwork” Two Wheel Drive), and Don Deane of Trafalgar, Indiana (“Plumbers Nitemare” Modified).

The month of excitement continues on Saturday, June 11 for Vision Quest Night. Prior to the night’s racing the 8th Fremont Speedway Hall of Fame induction ceremonies will take place at 2:30 p.m. under the historic grandstands.
Drivers to be inducted into the hall of fame include Joe Keegan, Ron Leaser, Bobby Sears Jr. and Dave Blaney. Mechanic/car or engine builders to be inducted include Paul Kistler and Dick Willey. Car owners to be inducted will be Roy and Keith Pierce, Len Malloy and Vince Fisher; Supporter/life contributor to be inducted will be Larry Nuber.

The Race of Legends will also take place, pitting former sprint drivers in 305 sprint cars. The dirt trucks and late models will also be in action.
“We will have a list of the Race of Legends participants soon so keep an eye out on our website. This race has grown into one of those ‘must see’ events. We have retired drivers from around the country contacting us wanting to be a part of this race. I can’t thank the 305 race teams enough for allowing these legends to drive their cars,” Farmer said.
