PORT ROYAL, Pa. (May 31, 2016) – Dale Blaney returned to Victory Lane to highlight a successful weekend for the Mainstream Holdings, Inc., sponsored CH Motorsports team.

“We put a new car together and that helped a little bit,” he said. “We’re learning. What we’ve been doing the last year and a half to two years is really not working right now. So we’re trying to figure out some new stuff and how to go fast again. I think we made some gains this weekend.”

The weekend began on Friday at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, for an Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions event. Blaney qualified fourth quickest overall and placed third in a heat race to advance into the dash, where a seventh-place result lined him up on the inside of the fourth row for the main event.

“We weren’t that great in the dash,” he said. “I fell back early at the start of the feature to 10th or 11th. I went from the bottom and moved straight to the top. I maintained for a little bit and then I got rolling. I picked guys off here and there. A couple of late cautions really helped.”

Blaney charged from midpack to take the lead in the closing laps. It was his fourth win of the season and 25th career feature victory at Attica Raceway Park.

“I felt like I had a good enough car without the cautions I think I could have got there, but they definitely helped that,” he said. “Any time you win it’s a morale booster. Janet (Holbrook) was there and all the guys who help us were there. It was really good to get that win.”

The momentum continued on Saturday at Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio, where Blaney kicked off the All Star event by qualifying second quickest. He placed third in a heat race and third in the dash to start the main event on the inside of the second row.

“Every time we hit the track we were really good,” he said. “We had a great starting spot for the A Main. I ran second for the first 12 or 13 laps. Rico (Abreu) and Sheldon (Haudenschild) both went by. I got back to third. Sheldon and Rico drove like 20-year-olds and I drove like a 52-year-old. We took what we could get. Those are championship nights when you take a third-place car and end second.”

Blaney placed second to add to his All Star points lead.

The weekend concluded on Sunday at Port Royal Speedway at the Bob Weikert Memorial, where Blaney timed in seventh in his group and placed second in a heat race. He then advanced from ninth to sixth place during the main event.

“I didn’t qualify great for when we went out and I wasn’t that great in the heat race,” he said. “We threw some stuff at it to get where we were when we won there a couple of months ago. I felt like I was pretty good in the A Main. I sealed my tires up and struggled the last part of it. I was good from Lap 12 to 20. From about Lap 20 on I kind of maintained. Track position was pretty crucial. The top seven or eight guys were in a line and nobody was faster than anyone else.”

Monday’s Bob Weikert Memorial race was rained out.

Blaney is slated to compete this Friday at Fremont Speedway in Fremont, Ohio, with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series; and Saturday at Atomic Speedway in Chillicothe, Ohio, and Sunday at Bedford Speedway in Bedford, Pa., with the All Stars.
