FREMONT, Ohio (June 7, 2016) – The highlight of last weekend for Dale Blaney came on Saturday in the Midwest, where he was inducted into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame.

Blaney charted a private plane and flew to the ceremony in Knoxville, Iowa, early Saturday before he returned to Ohio for an Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions doubleheader, which was subsequently rained out.

“Jack Elam had a private plane and Janet Holbrook organized everything,” he said. “If it wasn’t for those two I would have never got out there. A big thanks for getting me out there and an opportunity to experience that. I enjoyed it. I wish I could have spent Friday out there in the evening and watched everyone get inducted, hung out and watched the races and been a part of the whole thing, but I had to work to do. As soon as we got back it rained out.”

Blaney’s lone race of the weekend came on Friday at Fremont Speedway with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series. Blaney and the Mainstream Holdings, Inc., backed CH Motorsports team qualified fifth quickest in a group before placing third in a heat race – only one spot out of the dash.

“I felt like we qualified ok and we were fair in the heat race,” he said. “I couldn’t make up any ground.”

That lined Blaney up on the outside of the fifth row for the main event.

“I felt like starting 10th with 40 laps we were in a good position to get something done,” he said. “We just maintained. I was anywhere from eighth to 10th the first 20 laps and then we had a suspension problem. A bolt broke on the birdcage. I guess it was good it happened at an Outlaw race rather than an All Star race.”

Blaney was unable to finish the race and he was credited with a 21st-place result.

The team is slated to return to All Star competition this Saturday at Butler Speedway in Quincy, Mich. Blaney swept a pair of events and finished fourth during three races there in 2014. He was also victorious in 2011, placed second in both 2012 and 2013 and ended ninth last year.

“We’ve won a couple races over there,” he said. “We usually run pretty good over there. That’s a tough race track, but we usually put ourselves in position to do well. Track position is everything.”
