Indiana Sprint Week opens its 29th edition this Friday night at Gas City I-69 Speedway to kick off the opening of the spectacular seven-races in nine-nights series featuring the USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship.

Three Hoosier dirt ovals are set to stage this weekend’s first part of ISW. This Friday night, July 8, the series takes on Gas City I-69 Speedway before heading to nearby Kokomo Speedway on Saturday, July 9 for the inaugural “Tony Elliott Classic.” A trip down to the southeastern part of the state on Sunday at Lawrenceburg Speedway concludes the first weekend of events before action resumes on Wednesday, July 13 for the final four-race stretch of ISW.

Defending Indiana Sprint Week Champion Robert Ballou of Rocklin, Calif. enters this year’s event fresh off his fourth series victory of the 2016 season. He led all 30 laps of last Friday night’s 2nd Annual “Bill Gardner Sprintacular” at Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville, Ind. in his MPHG Promotions/Blakesley Auto Maxim/Ott. Chad Boespflug, one of the series’ hottest recent drivers, finished second ahead of Brady Bacon, Shane Cottle and Dave Darland.

Darland, with an all-time record 58 USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car victories, heads into ISW as a three-time champion, hoping to join Kevin Thomas and Levi Jones as the only four-time ISW Champions. Darland leads all drivers with 18 career ISW wins, just two ahead of Jon Stanbrough’s 16. Stanbrough is a two-time ISW Champ while fellow two-time ISW Champ Bryan Clauson will be a force to reckon with throughout the seven race series.

Chase Stockon captured last year’s Gas City ISW opener and Brady Bacon is the defending ISW winner at Lawrenceburg. Last year’s Kokomo race was interrupted by rain.

Josh Hodges was last Saturday’s ProSource fast qualifier at Putnamville, while Chris Windom came from 22nd to 10th to take the KSE Hard Charger Award.
