Knoxville Nationals Top Story 2016

From Knoxville Raceway

Knoxville, IA — (July 7, 2016) — Nashville country music recording artist, Pat Cooper, will perform a live pre-race concert at the 5-hour ENERGY Knoxville Nationals presented by Casey’s General Stores on Saturday, August 13.

The pre-race concert kicks off the biggest night in sprint car racing and will be held at the Knoxville (Iowa) Raceway Fan Zone stage behind the fronstretch grandstands. Cooper will hit the stage at 3:30 p.m., local time immediately following the driver’s meeting, which is open to the public for the first time.

“I have always been a big fan of racing, whether it’s dirt racing or NASCAR, so this is more than just another show to me,” said Cooper. “The opportunity to experience the Knoxville Nationals first hand is going to be something cool. I can’t wait to perform my first show in the mid-west, to meet all of these diehard fans and to see some great dirt track racing.”

While attending the University of South Carolina, Cooper, 26, began his career performing in “The Saloon,” a local Columbia bar, every Thursday during karaoke night. Word of Cooper’s talent spread and his career blossomed.

Cooper’s career quickly moved him to Nashville, Tenn. He’s since played in locations from downtown Nashville to Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. He’s opened for popular country music artists Scotty McCreary, Michael Ray, Parmalee and The Josh Abbot Band.

All of his songs including “Burn” and “I Hope” from his second album “Now & Then” are currently available on iTunes, Spotify and iHeart Radio. For a limited time “Burn” can be downloaded for free

“We could not be happier to have Pat and his band join us for the Nationals this year,” said Kendra Jacobs, Marketing Director for Knoxville Raceway. “We’ve discussed so many ways to make this event fun and memorable for the more than 21,000 fans that come to Knoxville, Iowa in August and we think Pat’s concert is a great way to kick off the best night in sprint car racing. He’s definitely talented and above that he’s a race fan, so he’ll fit right in.”
