Tulsa OK (July 12, 2016) – The state of Kansas will be ambushed this weekend by a pack of riled up sprint car pilots as the Ameri-Flex Hose & Accessories / Oil Capital Racing Series sprint cars prepare for an all out assault in the Sunflower State. Top Story OCRS Oil Capital Racing Series

Friday nights tour stop will be at the “Hummer” in Humboldt Kansas. Officially named the Humboldt Speedway, the Hummer has been a regular stop on the circuit since 2010. Then on Saturday night, its just a 75-mile jaunt south to the Caney Valley Speedway in Caney Kansas where the series will conclude the weekend doubleheader.

Both tracks are smallish in stature with the Hummer being a 3/8-mile oval while Caney is a 1/4-mile bullring.

Both tracks have similar characteristics in that they produce some excellent tight close racing while sporting well prepared facilities for the teams and fans alike. Race fans who attend these events will see first hand just what all the fuss is about when the wicked sprints power drive through the turns with the utmost in precision maneuvering to achieve the ultimate goal of taking checkers first.

The Ameri-Flex / OCRS series is looking forward to putting on two fantastic shows this weekend. So round up a gang of friends and come witness some of the greatest racing action you will see this weekend.

NUTZ n’ BOLTZ:

Marked Man:

Sheldon Barksdale is having his dream year. By picking up the win at the Salina Highbanks Speedway last Saturday, Barksdale has won 4 of the 9 races he has entered (2 at Salina) and has only been out of the top 5 twice. At this point of the season and for the first time in his driving career, Barksdale’s peers have marked him as the man to beat come race day. How does the laser dot on your forehead feel Sheldon?

Bad Luck or Bad Rubber?

The Pickard Racing Team with their driver Perry Pickard and trailer hopper David Baxter had an experience from hell. While the two drivers were en route to the Highbanks, their trailer suffered not one, but two worn our rubber shoes on I-44 in Kellyville OK. After an ordeal to get going again, the team had just passed through east Tulsa when a third foot decided to throw a shoe too. By this point, it was determined that getting to the track wasnt meant to be. They dropped the race trailer off at one of Danny Smith’s Tire Pros stores while Smith was out racing himself. Come Monday, the trailers feet had new shoes and waltzed back to Edmond OK.

Maximum Performance:

Maxim Racing is doing quite well in Ameri-Flex / OCRS competition with their chassis’  this season and we are only half way through. Maxim Racing has scored 7 of the 11 wins to date. Sheldon Barksdale leads with 4, Whit Gastineau has two wins and current points leader Zach Chappell has one. Maxim Racing is also a sponsor of the Ameri-Flex Challenge race that will be held in September.

Under The Hood Successes:

Due to the success Sheldon Barksdale is having, Wells Racing Engines leads the number of trips to victory lane by engine builders with 4 as they are the supply source for the Norman pilot. Wells is followed closely by Wesmar Racing Engines with three victory lane visits with Whit Gastineau claiming 2 scores and Johnny ‘Hotrod’ Kent winning at Caney a few weeks ago. Forehand Racing Engines has scored twice with Alex Sewell while DSO Racing Engines won with Zach Chappell and Robert Sellers parked it with Brand Racing Engines power.

Salvaging The Night:

Casey Wills made the best of a tough night at Salina last weekend. He was ‘Out to Lunch’ in his heat race as a result of issues with his carb. He massaged that problem during the intermission period, started dead last in the Ameri-Flex Hose & Accessories A-Feature and earned an 8th place finish on a super fast track where the top dogs all started up front. The top 10 finish also earned Wills the Action Auto Collision Hard Charger award for the event.
