DODGE CITY, Kan. (August 16, 2016) – All open wheel and not a wing in sight will be the scene at Dodge City Raceway Park as the 3/8-mile clay oval in southwest Kansas hosts the final of the USAC Southwest Sprint Cars’ Fourth Annual “Freedom Tour”.

And, joining in on the non-wing fun this time will be the POWRi West Midgets along with the Kansas Antique Racers (K.A.R.) Evart Isaac Tribute.  Racing action is set to go green at 7:30 p.m.

Saturday’s action at Dodge City Raceway Park will be the fourth and final leg of the annual USAC Southwest “Freedom Tour” that kicks off Wednesday night at Lawton (OK) Speedway before moving on to Creek County Speedway near Tulsa on Thursday night and then Wichita’s 81 Speedway on Friday night.

It will be the fourth consecutive year for the non-wing Sprint Car aces of the southwest to invade Dodge City with reigning series champion R.J. Johnson the defending winner of the DCRP event.  Others that have enjoyed DCRP victory lane in “Freedom Tour” competition include Mike Bonneau in 2014 and Charles Davis, Jr., and Rick Ziehl in 2013.

Past USAC Southwest champ Charles Davis, Jr., was the unofficial champion of last year’s “Freedom Tour” that offered up four different winners in as many rounds including “Chargin’ Charles”, Blake Hahn, Mike Martin and Johnson.

After taking in the Creek County and 81 Speedway rounds of last year’s tour, the POWRi West Midgets are geared up for all four nights of action this time around including Saturday’s finale at Dodge City Raceway Park.

Saturday will mark the first Midget outing at DCRP since May of 2013 when then-rising NASCAR star Kyle Larson and Tracy Hines split weekend honors.

The classic cars of the Kansas Antique Racers will round out the night with the Evart Isaac Tribute.

Tickets to Saturday’s USAC Southwest Sprint Cars “Freedom Tour” along with POWRi West vs. RMMRA Midgets and the K.A.R. Evart Isaac Tribute are just $20 for adults with children eleven and under admitted free when accompanied by an adult.
