CALHAN, Colo. (Aug. 16, 2016) – Zac Taylor may have to ask his mom to have more special events in her life.

Last Saturday – a day after Candie Taylor’s birthday – her son stormed from the 11th starting spot to garner his second consecutive win. It was his fifth victory of the year.

“I won on Mother’s Day, now around Mom’s birthday and a day after her and dad’s anniversary,” Zac Taylor said. “That’s pretty awesome.”

Taylor opened the action last Saturday at El Paso County Raceway with mechanical problems during his heat race that resulted in a DNF.

“The motor kept cutting out so I pulled in,” he said. “I thought it was a mag issue. It acted just like the midget did a few weeks ago when we had a mag issue. Luckily after a mag issue cost us a win, dad went out and got us a spare. But as soon as we looked at the fuel filter we saw it was put in backwards. It was an easy fix.”

Taylor relied on patience as he started on the inside of the sixth row in the main event.

“I went back and watched the video of the feature and saw how long I got hung up,” he said. “I was like, ‘What are you doing, Zac? Quit following those guys and go.’ But I was patient and just picked them off.”

The victory gives him momentum as he heads into this weekend unsure of the racing plan. Follow Taylor’s racing page on Facebook for the latest update.
