ABBOTTSTOWN, PA 8/17/2016 – A surprise rainfall on lap seven of Lincoln Speedway’s USAC/ARDC feature event brought a disappointing end to an abbreviated Pennsylvania Midget Week Wednesday night.

Nevada’s Tanner Thorson set fast time for the 20 midgets on hand, and took the lead from USAC points leader Spencer Bayston on a third-lap restart. He, Brayston, and Brady Bacon were running first through third when Steve Buckwalter brought out the caution flag after stopping in turn two.

As track crews were tending to Buckwalter, the rains arrived. Track preparer Fred Putney and his crew went to work, and the track was minutes from being race-ready when the rains returned.

Lincoln and USAC officials were forced to throw in the towel, and the remainder of the program was cancelled. Lincoln announced that rain checks from the show will be honored for the next three shows, and anyone who cannot return to the track during that time period can receive a full reimbursement by sending rainchecks to Lincoln via regular mail.

Lincoln had skirted other pop-up showers earlier in the evening, and it appeared that the track was in the clear.

Heats for the 20 USAC Midgets were won by Trevor Kobylarz, Chad Boat, and Alex Bright.

Fast time in time trials over the 20-car USAC Midget field was set by Thorson with a 1-lap time of 15.942-seconds (84.682 MPH).

Lincoln is back in action this Saturday night, August 20th, with Pepsi Night along with York County Racing Club (YCRC) Night as the ALL-STAR CIRCUIT OF CHAMPIONS come to Lincoln Speedway to take on the Pennsylvania Posse. Central PA Legends will round out the night’s racing action. Gates will open at 5:30 PM, followed by time trials at 7:30 PM.
