TULSA, Okla. (September 28, 2016) Just off the Hockett/McMillin Memorial, another big night of racing is on tap for the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network as the series heads for the world famous high-banks of the I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb. on Saturday, October 1 for the $6,000 to win Casey’s General Store Fall Brawl.

A look at the history of the Lucas Oil ASCS presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network at I-80 Speedway finds 14 previous A-Features since 1996. In last year’s edition, double features were contested as rain shortened the two day affair to a single night race. Justin Henderson and Billy Alley each garnered victories.
Utilizing the a unique format used at I-80 Speedway’s Silver Dollar Nationals, the format was explained by I-80 Speedway staff:

“The event will also have a unique format that has been very successful at I-80’s Silver Dollar Nationals. Each driver will run two heat races. The first heat will be lined up by the draw and the next heat that a driver is in, they will start exactly opposite of how they started their first heat (Example: If you start your first heat on the pole, you will start your second heat dead last). The top 16 in passing points from the double heats will qualify for the A Feature. 7th thru 16th will then run a six-lap position race with the top 4 to join the top six qualifiers in a fast dash. The finish of the fast dash will set the top ten spots in the feature. The position race will determine starting positions 11 through 16 in the feature.”
On top of the $6,000 winner’s check, Searsboro Telephone Co. will payout $1,000 to the night’s Hard Charger to go along with $3,500 in Lap Sponsors. Electrical Systems will also do a $500 random draw.
“We’re excited for this weekend,” said I-80 Speedway Promoter, Joe Kosiski. “We want to see great racing and give the fans plenty of Sprint Car racing.”
The site of one of Wayne Johnson’s biggest career victories, the Oklahoma native rolls into the weekend fresh off a $10,000 score at the Hockett/McMillin Memorial at Lucas Oil Speedway. Retaking third in tour stands from Blake Hahn, the driver of the No. 2c is set on racking up wins from this point forward.
While everyone chases Sam Hafertepe, Jr. the Texas native holds a 245 point margin over his closest advisory, Johnny Herrera. Adding his fifth National Tour triumph this past Thursday at Lucas Oil Speedway, Herrera is safely in the second spot with time to close the gap on the season championship.
While Johnson and Hahn find themselves in a close fight for third, Matt Covington holds down the fifth spot in tour standings with Logan Forler closing that gap following his 15th career National Tour podium finish this past Saturday.
Seth Bergman holds seventh with Aaron Reutzel eighth. Josh Baughman and Kyle Bellm make up the series top-ten.
