Having nothing bad luck keep him off the track for most of the 2016 season, Matt Peterson would bring the year to a close in a welcomed uneventful night at the Stockton Dirt Track on Saturday night.

“After the year we had it was nice to have a mellow Saturday night,” Peterson said with a smile. “We had some really good speed, and I was happy to have a decent night to bring it to an end.”

After an extremely tough Trophy Cup a couple of weeks back, Peterson and company returned to action to compete with the Civil War Series on Saturday night.

With 49 cars checked into the pit area, Peterson would time his No. p37 entry in sixth fastest in his qualifying flight. Racing to a second place finish during his heat race, the Wilton, CA product would safely move into the final feature event of the season.

On a very slick Stockton Dirt Track, Peterson would find himself in the 11th starting spot for the 30-lap feature event. Following a couple of early stoppages, the race would rip of 23 consecutive green flag laps.

Battling for a Top-10 position, Peterson would find himself racing with Greg DeCaires and Bradley Terrell in the race’s closing laps.

Slipping back to the 12th spot, Peterson would take the checkered flag to close out his rough 2016 season.

“I can’t thank everyone enough for all of the love and support they showed to my team and my family this year,” Peterson added. “It was hard on us, but the relationships made it easier. Now we have a long off season ahead where we look to regroup, and put this season behind us ASAP.”

Matt and his team would like to thank, Miller Lite, Inventory Sales Company, Bear Trucking, Transportation Services, Future Energy Savers, Hoskins Mechanical Resources, Vahlco Wheels, JhdDesings, Shell Shock, MTFX Graphics, and V&H Fresh for their support in 2016.
