Stewart Friesen Bringing NASCAR Truck to Triple Crown Showdown at Ohsweken on August 24

From Clayton Johns

OHSWEKEN, Ont. (August 7, 2017) — The second ever Triple Crown Showdown presented by Townline Variety and Stoneridge Specialty Insurance is building in anticipation as fans get the only opportunity of the year to see Big-Block Modifieds, 360 Sprints Cars and Late Models on the same track on August 24.

Ohsweken Speedway is also pleased to announce NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and Super DIRTcar Series star Stewart Friesen will have his Eldora Dirt Derby NASCAR Truck on display. Fans will be able to see the truck Friesen drove in a dominating performance and second-place finish at Eldora Speedway last month up close and in person.

The event features the best Big-Block Modified drivers in the world as the Super DIRTcar Series rolls into Ohsweken for their second ever event. The Kool Kidz-Corr/Pak 360 Sprint Cars will also be in action for a $3,000-to-win event alongside a $2,000-to-win race for the Go Nuclear Late Model Series. A handful of drivers will be chasing a $25,000 payday if they can win all three events or a $5,000 bonus to win two of the three features.

Race time is 7:30pm with Pit Gates scheduled to open at 5:30pm and Spectator Gates opening at 6:00pm. Advanced reserved seating is available for $30 per person by visiting https://ohswekenspeedway.ticketforce.com or by calling 1 (519) 717-0023.

Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modifieds
The Super DIRTcar Series last visited Ohsweken in 2015 for the inaugural Triple Crown Showdown. Chad Brachmann of Sanborn, NY upset the talented cast of Super DIRTcar Series regulars for his first career win with the Series in the 75-lap affair. Brachmann came from 11th to score the victory over Dale Planck and reigning Super DIRTcar Series champion Matt Sheppard. ‘The Doctor’ Danny Johnson and local pilot Mat Williamson completed the top-five. The local talent will hope to upset the Series regulars for the second straight race at Ohsweken and claim the $6,000 winner’s prize.

Kool Kidz-Corr/Pak 360 Sprint Cars
The drivers in the Kool Kidz-Corr/Pak 360 Sprint Car division will likely have to contend with several outside invaders in the high-paying $3,000-to-win event. For many drivers, the race not only serves as an excellent payday, but also as a tune-up for the massive $12,000-to-win Canadian Sprint Car Nationals three weeks later on September 15-16.

Go Nuclear Late Models
The Go Nuclear Late Models make their third visit to Ohsweken. The Series was also a part of the inaugural Triple Crown Showdown on June 30, 2015 when Darren Peters held off Charlie Sandercock for the victory. During last year’s Northern Crate Nationals, John Waters Whitesville, NY also defeated Sandercock to score the win. This year, Sandercock is already one driver confirmed to run in at least two classes on the night with his Late Model and 360 Sprint Car.
