BCRA ANNOUNCES 3 MIDGET CHAMPIONS WILL BE CROWNED IN 2011

From BCRA

The Bay Cities Racing Association Midgets are recognizing the change in cars over the years. With two very different cars, pavement and dirt, and few car owners having both anymore, the focus for some has turned away from an overall Championship. Because of this, BCRA will recognize a dirt and pavement Champion along with an overall Champion in 2011. Though BCRA has given plaques to the top three in the dirt and pavement divisions in the past, in 2011 both divisions will be a part of the Championship Prize Fund.

“We feel this will give better recognition and create more interest to those guys that only have one car in their garage,” says President David Prickett. “We are trying to get back to an affordable series, without going to a single car Championship rule and telling everyone they must change their inventory.”

Over the past several years, there has been a nationwide drop in support for an overall Championship. In this economy, people can no longer afford to race 25 times a year. With this enhanced structure, BCRA gives the opportunity to win a Championship in half as many races.
