By Bob Burbach

Marysville –Since 1939 the Bay Cities Racing Association has sanctioned midget auto races. 3 Indy 500 winners have come from their ranks as well as national titles on both dirt and asphalt. Saturday night Marysville Raceway Park will host round 2 of the 2010 BCRA championship title chase. They will bring nationally known stars that have competed in nearly every major event in midget auto racing. After a 7th place finish last weekend, United Rentals Night at the raceway will feature Nick Foster Jr. who looks to continue his championship hunt at the MRP clay oval. He is a 2-time champion.

Foster is expected to be driving Jim Fowlers #1, challenged by BCRA Dirt series point leader Shannon McQueen, a winner at Marysville last season, 2009 BCRA Champion David Prickett, Pete Davis, 2010 BCRA Rookie of the Year Dillon Silverman, 2008 BCRA Rookie of the Year Nick Chivello, 7-time BCRA Champion Floyd Alvis, Britton Bock, and Darin Snider. Also expected are Danny Parker, Kevin Morris and Travis Haugh.

Also on the ambitious 6 division card is the return of the Performance Auto Supply Wingless Warrior Sprint Car Series. Opening night winner and defending champion Terry Schank will be back to defend his MRP title against a host of eager racers. The MRP Mighty Mini Stocks will be back with round 2 of their fendered slugfest. Opening night winner Kyle Cheney will try to fend off a super field of cars and stars including 2-time champ Misty Castleberry.

Last week’s Pro 4 winner Tim Maclaughlin will try to make it 2 in a row. The MRP Hobby Stocks will be back with round 2 in MRP’s new venture into affordable and fun racing, The BCRA Midget Lites will round out the night as BCRA’s Junior division will appear with the big guns.

This observer became aware that MRP Winged Sprint Car driver Mark Michelet is coming along bravely after suffering serious burns during the April 2nd opener. Michelet has undergone skin graft surgery on his legs. According to MRP promoter Kathy Hawes, Mark is maintaining a remarkable positive attitude considering his injuries. He’ll be laid up a while longer, we’re told. MRP fans have sent Michelet nearly $1000 in the last week to help with expenses. If you would care to help Mark financially please write a check to Mark Michelet and send it to:
