The United Auto Workers will present Pack the House Night on Wednesday July 20th at the Bryant Heating and Cooling Indianapolis Speedrome®. The preeminent labor representation union will have its membership on hand for the USAC/IUPUI Elite 8 Midget Series. In action will be the USAC Mopar D1 Midgets, Ford Focus Midgets, and Focus Young Guns. Spectator gates will open at 5:30pm with opening ceremonies at 7pm followed by great open wheel racing. Some of the best and brightest stars in motorsport have come through these USAC events at the Speedrome the past 7 decades. The Speedrome has hosted more USAC sanctioned races than any other track in the world.
“It will be great to see all of the UAW members on July 20th”, stated USAC Development Series Director James Spink. “There have been some fantastic races so far this year with several bits of history made too. I am excited about showing the UAW members our brand of open wheel racing”. The 2011 season marks the first partnership between USAC and IUPUI. USAC has been the primary sanctioning body for open wheel race cars competing in the US since 1956, while IUPUI has the unique distinction of offering the only four-year bachelor’s degree in Motorsports Engineering in the country. The partnership offers unique opportunities for students to see the inner workings of an important motorsports series.
This July 20th event is just another in the long line of strong UAW supported events at the Speedrome. This September along with Pure Power Technologies, they will be the title sponsor for the 35th Annual World Figure 8® Championship. “The Speedrome has been the perfect place for our members to relax and enjoy some great racing”, said Greater Marion County UAW CAP Council Chairperson Danny Ernstes. “We are excited to be a part of the upcoming USAC Midget program”. The UAW is one of the largest and most diverse unions in North America, with members in virtually every sector of the economy. Those represented workplaces range from multinational corporations, small manufacturers and state and local governments to colleges and universities, hospitals and private non-profit organizations.
