USAC/BCRA MIDGET DRIVER DALLEN MCKENNEY PASSES AT 42

By Robert Haugh

Dallen McKenney born October 5, 1968, passed away Sunday morning after a one-year battle with Leukemia. Dallen was a successful USAC and BCRA Midget driver before an accident at Madera Speedway in September of 2008 almost took his life. Dallen came back from that incident as crew chief, along with father Roy McKenney, to put the families #88 Midget back in victory lane in 2009 and 2010 with driver Tanner Swanson. Dallen was also involved in his sons, Dustyn and Carson, racing careers, setting up their cars in the quarter midget and mini sprint divisions. Dallen did not start his racing career in open wheel cars though. Dallen was a motocross rider for many years before coming to mini sprints and midgets.

There will be a memorial for Dallen at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 14, 2011 at Clovis Hills Community Church in Clovis. Remembrances can be sent to Gift Administration, City of Hope, 1500 E. Duarte Rd. Duarte, CA 91010
