More $ in purse for 2nd Rich Dozier 100 Saturday at MRP

By Bob Burbach

Marysville- An extra $1000 will be posted to the purse paid for Saturday night’s Rich Dozier 100 at Paul and Kathy Hawes’ Marysville Raceway Park. There will also be a large number of great prizes for a lot of lucky fans. The extra money will be put into the purses of all divisions according to Rich Dozier, the man that Saturday’s race is all about. It would appear that the Performance Auto Supply Winged Sprint Car Series would likely be the biggest beneficiary as far as car count goes for one of MRP’s most important events. As no 360 winged sprint car racing is scheduled in the area Saturday, a great field of cars and stars is expected in MRP’s premiere series.

The familiar #95 of Brandon Dozier will be carrying the Performance Auto Supply banner in the Performance Auto Supply Winged Sprint Car Series. This observer talked with champion driver Cort Dozier (his latest championship came in 2009 in a wingless sprint car). Cort said he was thinking hard about putting retirement on hold for at least one more race and dust off the #97c once again in order to compete in the event held for his dad. It’s interesting to note that Cort was not only the Wingless Warrior Champion in ’09, but also finished 3rd in the Performance Auto Supply Winged Sprint Car Series in 2009 before announcing his retirement.

More money and more stars are headed to MRP this Saturday night. There are 100 laps of feature event racing scheduled with rapid fire 20-lappers in each division. The Performance Auto Supply Winged Sprint Car Series, the MRP Wingless Warrior Sprint Car Series, the MRP Super Stocks, Mini Stocks and Hobby Stocks will all be running with a good 25-30 of them with Performance Auto Supply decals somewhere on their bodywork. It will be a rock ‘em, sock ‘em great time at the races this week. Be there!

The pit gate opens at 3pm and the front gate opens at 5. 1st race will go off around 6:30 after hot laps.

IMPORTANT: 2011 minor releases must be signed by parents for all minors entering the pits. Concessions will be available. All classes of racecar are invited to participate.
