USCS at North Alabama’s Thunder Speed Spectacular Friday

Tuscumbia, AL – The United Sprint Car Series Outlaw Thunder Tour presented by Goodyear headlines an action-packed racing program for the 5th Annual USCS Night of Thunder speed spectacular at North Alabama Speedway Friday, August 12th) at 8;00 p.m. The event will be the one and only appearance of the winged outlaw style sprint cars during the 2011 racing season at North Alabama Speedway racing.

Drivers from at least six states are pre-entered for the appearance of the World’s fastest and most powerful short track race cars. The format for the 1300 pound, 700 horsepower USCS sprint cars will consist of Test n’ Tune hot laps followed by the first race of the evening, the Goodyear Speed Dash which features the top six cars from the previous event in a six lap shootout. The USCS drivers then compete for starting positions in the main event via qualifying heat races and B-Main event(s). The evening’s sprint car finale will be the USCS presented by Goodyear 30-lap main event that pays $2000 to win.

Two of the USCS’ Rookie of the Year sprint car drivers won their career-first USCS main-events at North Alabama Speedway in 2009. On May 24, 2009 during the USCS Speedweek 2009 Round Two, Anthony Nicholson from Bartlett, Tennessee collected his first-ever series win. During the series next visit to the speedway, 2009 USCS Rookie of the Year, Justin Carver from Drummonds, Tennessee raced to victory on August 7, 2009. Carver won the 5th annual event again during last season’s 2010 USCS visit

The winged USCS sprint cars will be joined on the action-packed racing card by the 800 horsepower Super Late Models contesting a full racing program with $1000 guaranteed to the winner. The North Alabama Speedway Late Model Stock, Open Wheel Modified, Modified Street and Mini Stock racing divisions will also be on the racing card.

Each division will contest a full program of racing treating the race fans to a full series of preliminary races in each division and over 100 laps of main events. This family-friendly North Alabama Speedway SPECIAL EVENT will offer FREE admission to Children 12 years and younger with a paying adult.

The pit gates open at 4:00 pm for the special event with the grandstands opening at 5:00 pm and racing action kicks off at 8:00 pm. North Alabama Speedway is located by traveling approximately seven miles West of Tuscumbia on US Highway 72, then traveling South on Highway 247 for one mile.
