The Evergreen State of Washington will host its first USAC event in six years Saturday when the brand-new USAC Northwest Focus Series makes its debut at Gray’s Harbor Raceway in Elma.

Washington has played host to 37 USAC races since Dan Gurney swept a pair of Indy car events at Seattle International Raceway in 1968.

The race will be the first of several encompassing the new series, whose schedule will be released soon.

The Focuses have never competed in Washington before and the last USAC appearance there found Damion Gardner and Jayme Barnes winning Sprint features at Skagit Speedway.
