Cody Darrah Cruises To Pair of Top-10’s

PETERSEN MEDIA

– With three World of Outlaw races on the schedule last week, Cody Darrah showed some serious speed as the youngster scored two sixth place finishes at Rolling Wheels, and Hagerstown.

“The KKR 4 Car was good all week long,” said Darrah. “We qualified very well, and posted some strong feature event runs.”

Kicking the week off at Rolling Wheels, Darrah started his night off with posting quick time during qualifications setting the rest of his night up nicely.

“Just and my guys had this thing perfect in qualifications, and our Speedway Engines, and Factory Kahne Shocks did their job,” he continued.

After scoring second his heat, Darrah finished seventh in the dash, and lined up in the fourth row for the feature..

In the feature, the track tightened up a bit, and Darrah fell back to the tenth spot before marching his way back up to a sixth place finish at the stripe.

Saturday night the tour headed to New York, and took to the Orange County Fair Speedway, and Darrah stayed fast as he timed in third quickest during time trials.

Scoring third in his heat race, Darrah started and finished fourth in the dash and put his Schroth Racing/Roth Motorsports/Team ASE backed entry in the second row in the feature.

The first 20 laps of the 25 lap feature went non-stop and Darrah was up to the third spot when the caution flew on the ultra slick track.

The next laps got wild, and multiple drivers continued to lose tires on the abrasive surface.

After several stop and go attempts to get the race finished, an open red waved, but teams were not allowed to change tires.

With three laps to go, Darrah too went flat, and was scored in the 16th spot at the finish.

Darrah’s flat was one of 21 blown tires over the final five laps.

“We were good all night long, and its unfortunate that tire’s played such a huge factor tonight. With the amount of flats that had occurred in such a short period of time, I would of thought officials would of let us change tires, but such is life, and I hate it for these guys,” he continued.

Sunday night’s scene was the Hagerstown Speedway for the second round of the Kasey Kahne Challenge.

With his boss in action Darrah timed his Ollie’s Bargain Outlet/KKR/Speedway Motors machine in 15th quick putting him on the front row of his heat.

Darrah would win his heat, and finish ninth in the dash, putting him in the fifth row of the dash.

In the feature the Red Lion, PA driver simply charged forward on the very racy track.

After a brief stoppage on the second lap, the final 23- circuits clicked off at a torrid pace, and Darrah had worked his way up to the fourth spot with just a few laps remaining.

While batteling for the third spot, Darrah got a little high, and lost a few spots with just two laps remaining and scored his second sixth place finish of the week.

“Justin and the guys had this car great again, and I’m excited with the direction we’re heading,” said Darrah. “We are starting to hit out stride, and I feel like a win is right around the corner,”

ON TAP- Cody and his KKR team will now head to the team’s home track, the Dirt Track at Charlotte for a race that will air live on the Speed Channel at 8pm Eastern time.
