Abbottstown, PA — (July 7, 2012) — Hanover’s Cris Eash drove around Keith Prutzman on a fourth-lap restart and moved alongside Doug Esh for second on the all-time win list in Saturday’s “358” sprint car feature at Lincoln Speedway.

“It’s been way, WAY too long,” said Eash upon exiting his Grand Prix of Baltimore/O’Neil Racing/BMW Construction #17E in victory lane, “It’s tough racing here. It’s hard to pass here. We start back a little bit and you just gotta follow the guy in front of you until he messes up.”

“We had some work done on our motor this week, and Scotty got our motor running excellent, “ continued Eash, “We’re on the right track now.”

With the win, Eash became the tenth different winner in ten “358” Lincoln races this year, and scored his 11th career 358 sprint win, moving him into a tie with Doug Esh for second on the track’s all-time win list.

Eash, originally slated to start fifth, restarted third when polesitter Travis Willow spun out on turn four of the first lap, forcing the complete restart. He drove under front row starter Scott Fisher in the first two turns and was running second behind new polesitter Keith Prutzman at the end of lap one.

He made the race-winning pass following a fourth-lap caution for Fisher, who spun in turns three and four.

He led the rest of the way, crossing 1.73 seconds ahead of second-place Dale Hammaker, who was originally scored third in a tight finish with eighth-starting Austin Hogue. But a post-race video review showed Hammaker crossed second, with Hogue third. Todd Rittenhouse, Jr. and Prutzman completed the top five.

Sixth through tenth were Miki Young, Tim Wagaman, Kyle Moody, Ryan Wilson, and Matt Findley.

The feature was marred by a spectacular front stretch crash which destroyed the car of defending track champ Jeff Rohrbaugh on lap 12. Rohrbaugh was uninjured.

Heats for the 30 “358” Sprinters on hand were won by Travis Willow, Austin Hogue, and Cris Eash, with Matt Findley winning the consolation.

McSherrystown’s Bobby Beard scored his second win in the three-race series to claim the title in the “358” late model Williams Grove/Trail-Way/Lincoln “Shootout” finale. And it was by the narrowest of margins, just two points better than Gene Knaub, who finished fifth in the feature.

Beard took command early from his pole position and led every lap, despite heavy late-race pressure in lapped traffic from Jake Jones, who settled for second. Randy Stoudt and Pat Beard finished third and fourth.

Sixth through tenth were Grant Adams, Bernie Beard, Tyler Horst, D.J. Mease, and Billy Wampler.

Heats for the 32 “358” Late Models were won by Bernie Beard, DJ Mease, Horst, and Grant Adams, with Chad Julius winning the consolation.

Logan Wagner took advantage of a heads-up start to win from the pole in the 20-lap PASS Racesaver-hosted “305” sprint car feature. Four different sanctioning groups were represented in the regional event, with Pennsylvania cars finishing in the top four spots.

Billy Ney, previous Lincoln winner Kody Lehman, and Dusty Shatzer completed the top four, with Tri-State Racesaver Series driver David Martin crossing fifth.

Heats for the 38 “305” Sprints on hand were won by Kyle Lloyd, Logan Wagner, and Ney, with Brock Bilgon from New York’s CRSA winning the consolation.

Next Saturday night, July 14, it will be BAPS Night at Lincoln Speedway feature all three regular point divisions – the Lawrence Chevrolet 410 Sprints, Keizer Aluminum Wheels 358 Sprints and Thundercars. Gates will open at 5:30 PM, with racing getting underway at 7:30 PM.
