Tarlton Posts Pair of Top 5’s

From Peterson Meda

In a rare occasion, Tommy Tarlton didn’t find himself in victory lane at the Ocean Speedway, but the Easton, CA driver continued to add to his impressive 2012 stat line as he captured a second place finish on Friday and a fourth place finish on Saturday in Hanford, CA marking his 18th and 19th top five finishes in 21 races.

The action got kicked off Friday night at the Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, CA with Tarlton looking to score a win, and tie Brent Kaeding for the season record of wins at the track with seven.

Things got off to a great start for the Terminator, as he timed his Corporate Lending America/Tachi Palace and Casino/Sharp Insurance No.21 second fastest against the 23 cars that were checked into the pit area.

Scoring a third place finish in the heat, Tarlton lined up in the second row for the 30-lap feature event. With the opening start being waved off due to the front row jumping, Tarlton found himself on the front row alongside Brad Furr.

The first attempted start was negated due to a gaggle of spinning cars, and the second start was called off to Tarlton’s disappointment for a car getting upside down, just after Tarlton got to the lead.

The fourth attempt at getting a lap complete came with cars lining up in single file formation.

With Furr getting the jump, Tarlton hung tough in the second spot, as he relentlessly pounded the cushion, as the leader worked the bottom of the speedway. Keeping Furr within shouting distance, the last three laps were very exciting as the duo raced side by side, but Furr was able to get the advantage as they took the checkered flag.

“What a race,” Tarlton said to the crowd. “I’ve raced Brad Furr for many years, and that was a blast racing side-by-side with him. It’s nice to see his team get a win. He was good tonight, and I gave it all I had.”

Saturday night at the King Speedway in Hanford, CA, Tarlton overcame a poor qualifying effort and charged forward in the feature event from his 11th starting spot.

On what was a tricky track to pass on, Tarlton was able to slice and dice his way through the field to score a fourth place finish at the stripe.

Tommy would like to thank Corporate Lending America, Tachi Palace and Casino, Sharp Insurance, Bandy and Associates, Pro Signs, BG Lubricants, K&N Products, All Star Performance and Astro Titanium for their continued support.
