From Bill W

February 18, 2013 – A busy 2013 campaign begins this weekend for the Brian Brown Racing Casey’s General Stores/FVP #21 sprint car team. Friday and Saturday the Lucas Oil ASCS National Series will compete at the Tucson International Raceway in Tucson, Arizona. This will mark the beginning of a month and a half away from home for the Grain Valley, Missouri driver.

It looks like you’ll be spending some time on the West Coast to start out the season won’t you?

Last year, we did this too. I really think it helped our program once we got back around home. We have fourteen or fifteen nights planned out there…four with ASCS and eleven or twelve with the Outlaws. We’ll definitely have some tough competition, and we’ll see where we stack up.

That’s a good market for some of your partners, isn’t it?

It’s a great market for FVP, and we have some events lined up for them. We look forward to having their customers and employees out to the racetrack. That’s always fun!

Talk about Tucson a little bit. You’ve had some mixed results there over the years.

It’s a head scratcher when we don’t do well there. It really fits my driving style. It’s a nice big track with sweeping corners. We’ve never been as good as we should have there. We haven’t been there for a year or so. We’ve got a brand new Charlie Garrett engine that I think is going to be a secret to a lot of our success in 2013. We’ll definitely be able to air it out this weekend and see what kind of horsepower we have. I think we’ll get off on the right foot. You can’t win them all if you don’t win the first one.

There is a lot of preparation when you go out on a trip like this away from home for a long time isn’t there?

Yes, there really is. The guys have been working hard this winter. Chad Morgan, my long time crew chief, is back. We’ve brought on Travis Marsch this winter to be our other team member. They’ve been working really hard. Going for six or seven weeks is a pretty big task. You have to make sure you have spares for your spares. I feel Travis may be the missing piece of the puzzle to having a great 2013, instead of just a good one. He has a lot of good experience, and we’re excited that he’s a part of it.

You’ve brought most of your partners back from 2012, correct?

We’re excited that we’ve brought our partners from 2012 on into 2013. We’ve also picked up Zips Energy Seeds, Wolfe Eye Clinic, Kenny’s Components and some other great partners. Brian Brown Racing is growing, and we’re very thankful that those partners have chosen to be with us. We want to make sure they get the exposure that they deserve.

Brian last won his season opener on March 14, 2009 at the Springfield Raceway in Springfield, Missouri. The event was actually the “Turkey Bowl” postponed from the previous November. On a daytime surface, he ran from ninth to first in his heat race. After another weather postponement, he dueled with Sean McClelland for several laps before taking command.

Marketing Partner of the Week –

Maxim Racing

Brian says, “Chuck and Karen Merrill are not only great people, but they put everything into putting the best car out on the market. I’ve always been a supporter of theirs, and with Brian Brown Racing, you’ll always see their chassis.”

Brian has been partnering with Maxim since 2003. After years of success as a car owner, Chuck Merrill started his chassis business in a rented three-bay garage in November of 1988. The first car was driven by Johnny Herrera at the Florida All Stars Sprint Week in February of 1989. By June of that year, Maxim moved into a 7,000 square foot facility. By 2001, Maxim had grown substantially producing 304 chassis that year. In 2002, Maxim moved to its present 12,500 square foot location in Springfield, Illinois. Maxim continues to offer their customers unmatched service and support, and currently has 17 quality employees, and builds over 400 chassis on an annual basis. Their world-famous “K-car” was designed for Steve Kinser, and has won ten Knoxville Nationals titles and fourteen World of Outlaws championships! To top it all, Maxim offers a warranty if you are not completely satisfied with your car. For more information on Maxim, visit www.racemaxims.com!

Associate Marketing Partner of the Week – Wolfe Eye Clinic

If you’re one of the 140 million Americans who are afflicted with a refractive disorder such as being nearsighted, farsighted or having astigmatism, LASIK surgery may offer the vision you want without the constraints of glasses or contacts. There are a variety of important factors to consider when deciding on a refractive surgeon. Experience and training should be two of the most important considerations. For years, the physicians at Wolfe Eye Clinic have been leaders in LASIK laser vision correction. In fact, our physicians have been leaders in the development of laser vision correction and were the first to bring this technology to Iowa. They have been performing refractive surgery since 1984. With more than 29 years of experience and over 37,000 refractive surgeries performed, no one in Iowa is more qualified to provide LASIK surgery than the physicians at Wolfe Eye Clinic.
