Madsen Scores Two Top 10’s With Monte Motorsports

From Peterson Media

Accepting the invitation to pilot a second Monte Motorsports entry for the finale of the WSS in Perth, Ian Madsen made the most of it as he scored ninth and fifth place finishes.

“I’m so thankful to everyone at Monte Motorsports who made this deal possible,” Madsen said. “They are a first class bunch, and I was honored to drive for them.”

Kicking off his weekend on Friday night, Madsen timed his Miracle Recreation Equipment/Prosser Toyota/KRE Engines machine in 13th quick, putting him sixth in the first heat.

Madsen would proceed to score a fifth place finish in his heat narrowly locking him into the feature, where he would start in the 12th spot.

Feeling out the J&J chassis, Madsen would struggle at times, but wound up scoring a ninth place finish, in his first night out.

“We definitely had out struggles on Friday,” he said, “but the guys worked hard to get me acclimated with their cars, and I think that helped for Saturday.”

With two heat races slated for Saturday, Madsen scored sixth and second place finishes, qualifying him for the pole shootout, where he scored a third, and lined up for the feature in the second row.

In what was a wild, and crazy feature event, Madsen battled inside the top five with  some of the best drivers in the world, as he battled Kerry Madsen, Shane Stewart, and Tim Kaeding late in the feature.

When the dust settled on the race, Madsen sat in the fifth spot.

“We got a lot better on Saturday, and it was cool to race with Kerry a little, and even Shane Stewart,” he said. “It was a fun weekend and I’m glad the Monte guys ended up getting a win with Shane.”

Madsen would like to thank Watson’s Express Transport, Australia Wide Towing, Lucas Oil, EJF Engineering, Mike Hughes & Partners, City Access Scaffolding, Blackshaw’s Motor Body Repairs, ButlerBuilt, and Factory Kahne Shocks for their continued support.
