After a frustrating start to his 2013 season, Kyle Hirst seemed to get back on track Saturday night at the Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA for the Mini Gold Cup.

“All-in-all, I’d say overall the weekend was pretty good for our Roth Motorsports team,” he said. “We had a good all around night at Chico, and in Stockton we just missed out on invert, and we all know what that means with the Outlaws.”

With 42 cars checked into the pit area in Chico, Hirst was the first car on the track for time trials, and set the standard that no one could top, and he ended up with fast time.

Heat race action saw the Sacramento, CA pilot score a third place finish, putting his Roth Enterprises/Mobil1/Weld Wheels backed entry in the nights, Dash where he would start sixth and finish in the seventh spot.

Rolling out for the 40-lap feature in the fourth row, Hirst raced around as high as fifth, but never dropped below his seventh spot.

Running in the fifth spot on a late double-file restart, with just two laps remaining, things got a little crazy with cars going everywhere, and Hirst ended up in the seventh spot.

“It was awesome to be back up front and Chico, and that’s where this Roth Motorsports team belongs on a nightly basis,” he explained.

On Friday, Hirst was in action at the new Stockton 99 Speedway, where he opened the night out by timing in 17th fastest, just missing the heat inversion.

Starting in the third row of his heat, KH scored a fifth place finish, and did make the transfer into the 30-lap feature event.

Starting 16th, Hirst had an okay feature event, as he was able to stay out of harms way, but wasn’t able to get moving forward.

“We were just okay in the feature, and late in the race, the car got away from us, and I made some mistakes,” he said.

Though he was able to miss out of some near wrecks, Hirst was able to bring his Brown and Miller/Astro Titanium/3H Cattle machine home in one piece, and in the 17th spot.

Kyle and his Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, Mobil1, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Astro Titanium, 3H Cattle, Kaeding Performance, and Kent Performance Center for their support in 2013.
