Port Royal – As the cars and fans roll in to this weekends big Tuscarora 50 races at Port Royal Speedway and the Juniata County Fair, it will mark the final time that either group of them get to be involved in a Tuscarora 50 with the iconic names of Keith Kauffman and Fred Rahmer embroiled in the action.

Both drivers are retiring from the sport of 410 sprint racing at the end of the year and both men have one final chance to record another 50 title before they are gone.

Rahmer’s story is such that he owns the unrivaled best record in the prestigious Tuscarora 50, which is celebrating 46 years annually with the 2013 edition.

The Salfordville speedster holds the distinction of being one of only three drivers who have ever won the Tuscy’ 50 four times so this will be Rahmer’s last ever chance to become the first and only five-time 50 winner.

Lance Dewease too will be shooting for a record fifth 50 title in the Saturday finale.

All added up, Fred Rahmer owns an unprecedented 17 top-five feature finishes in the Tuscarora 50 including four wins, six runner-ups, a pair of thirds, three fourths and a pair of fifth place finishes.

Rahmer’s wins took place in 1996, 1997, 2000 and in 2005.

Kauffman owns the second best top-five Tuscarora 50 record with a total of 14 to his credit including wins in 1978 and in 2003.

In addition, Mifflintown’s Kauffman owns five runner-up 50 finishes plus a pair of thirds and five fifth place earnings.

The end of an era will be recorded with the checkers falling on this week’s Tuscarora 50 races as the names Kauffman and Rahmer leave the stage.

This will be their last Port Royal Tuscarora chances.

The 46th annual Tuscarora 50 races for 410 sprints at Port Royal Speedway as part of the 159th annual Juniata County Fair will be presented this Friday and Saturday, September 6 and 7 at 7 pm.

The All Star Circuit of Champions Sprints will be in the house for both events.

Saturday’s 46th annual Tuscarora 50 will offer a one-night purse of nearly $42,000 including a paid B Main, $12,000 to the winner and $500 just to start the prestigious event.

Each lap of Saturday’s 50 will pay $25 to lead.

Ramsey’s Car Washes of Mifflintown is the title sponsor of the Saturday night Tuscarora 50.

One provisional will be added to the Tuscarora 50 field on Saturday, awarded to the highest driver in Port Royal points to date who starts the B Main but fails to qualify for the show.

Friday’s Night Before The 50 show will include a 30-lap main event paying $5,000 to win and $400 to start.
