TRACK CHAMPS HONORED; ROCKING CHAIR FOR EASH’S RETIREMENT

Hanover, PA — (December 11, 2013) – Drivers, crew members, and personnel celebrated another successful season at Trail-Way Speedway. Awards were presented to 39 drivers from the five main divisions that raced during Trail-Way’s 41st season. Announcer Scott Hockensmith thanked Precise Racing Products, Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic, and One Stop Motors for their season sponsorship.

Jeff Rohrbaugh won his 5th 358 Sprint Car championship. Rohrbaugh claimed this title by six points over Brad McClelland. Rohrbaugh’s season was highlighted by four wins and 15 top tens out of 18 starts. McClelland also had a great season claiming 6 wins and 14 top fives. Cris Eash, who announced his retirement from racing this season, finished third in points. Eash’s many accomplishments in auto racing included track championships at Lincoln and Selinsgrove Speedways, more than 130 feature wins, induction into the York County Racing Club Hall of Fame, and he was the World of Outlaws Rookie of the Year in 1987. Eash was presented with a rocking chair, with his name and car number painted on it, to enjoy in his retirement from racing.

The Limited Stock Championship was awarded to Cory Weishaar. Weishaar’s season highlights were one feature win and 11 top tens in 16 starts.

Dan Furman was named 2013 Street Stock Champion. Furman dominated the division with five wins and nine top tens out of 11 starts. Jim Young claimed the 600cc Micro Sprint title by one point over David Holbrook. In fact, the top three were separated by only four points with Tyler Esh being awarded third in points. Young won one feature and had six top fives in 11 starts.

Steven Cox claimed the 270cc Micro Sprint Track Championship by five points over Cory Myers. Cox’s season included four top fives in seven starts.

Brad Hostetter, race director, announced opening race dates for the 2014 season. Trail-Way Speedway’s 42nd season will open with the Saturday program on March 22nd and the Friday program will begin April 5th. The 2014 schedule will be posted on the website once it is complete, as will any race rule changes.

Motorama Races and Shows will be held at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg, PA on February 15-16, 2014.
