– HIGHLANDS, Texas (April 16, 2014) – Channin Tankersley will be in a new ride when he tackles the ASCS Gulf South Region doubleheader this weekend.
Tankersley will pilot a sprint car for Marvin and Peggy Pearson this Friday at Heart O’Texas Speedway in Waco, Texas, and on Saturday at Gator Motorplex in Willis, Texas, for the 3rd annual Nolan Wren Memorial.
“I really want to thank Cooper Motorsports for the opportunity the past year and a half,” Tankersley said. “We won three races together and I hope to drive into Victory Lane soon with the Pearsons.”
Tankersley competed in a pair of ASCS Gulf South Region races in Louisiana for the Pearsons in 2012.
“I was running third and we broke the first night and I ran third the second night from like 15th,” he said.
Tankersley has also had a lot of success at Heart O’Texas Speedway in recent years, including a pair of runner-up finishes last season.
“We go pretty decent there,” he said. “It’s a little bitty, high-banked bullring. Generally the racing there is pretty good.”
Saturday’s track presents another good opportunity for Tankersley, who is aiming to earn a pair of top fives this weekend.
“It’s a cool track,” he said. “It has a tendency to rubber down quite often. As far as when the track is right, it’s really racy.”
