Tulsa Oklahoma (April 29, 2014) – Including the April 5th rained out show to start the season at the Southern Oklahoma Speedway in Ardmore Oklahoma, the compass has pointed either west or south of the Oil Capital Racing Series home office in Tulsa the four times the series has hit the road to start the 2014 racing campaign. This time the needle has finally pointed straight to the east and the sprint car warriors now head to Tri-State Speedway in Pocola Oklahoma where OCRS will embark in the first of three events at TSS in 2014. The first of these three stops is the seventh annual Danny Martinez Junior Memorial event. Martinez was a Fort Smith Arkansas police officer that lost his life in the line of duty in 2007. OCRS is honored to be a part of this event, which honors this special officer of law enforcement.

These power-packed 360 cubic inch sprint cars are coming off an extremely exciting feature event that was held at last weeks make-up race from the April 5th drenching at SOS where Mustang Oklahoma’s Shane Sellers earned a hard fought win over teenage sensation Mickey Walker by winning in the last turn of the final lap. There were no less than five drivers who had a shot of winning last week including: Danny Smith, Sheldon Barksdale and Alex DeCamp (in addition to Sellers and Walker). Race fans are in for a large treat if this Saturday night’s feature event is anything remotely close to what took place last week.

The victory by Sellers broke a two-race win streak by the ‘Gasman’ Whit Gastineau. In doing so, Sellers won his second OCRS A-Feature victory of his career. Tri-State Speedway is no stranger to producing some of the best racing action that OCRS can provide.  The 3/8 mile track with its well-designed banking lends itself to high speed, high drama racing action that keeps race fans coming back for more. TSS promoters Tim and Connie Adams have shown consistency in making sure their racing facility is in top condition when the OCRS sprint cars strut into town.

In the previous half-dozen visits to TSS, only Jamie Passmore has been able to score twice. Rafe Essary, Whit Gastineau, Alex DeCamp and Harli White are the other drivers to earn feature victories in these last six visits. A sampling of a few viable contenders who are more than capable in producing a win at TSS include: Danny Smith, Brian McClelland, Kyle Clark, Kade Morton, Chance Morton, Shayla Waddell, Mickey Walker and Andrew Deal as these drivers all have at least one feature win on their OCRS resume. Race fans will find no better entertainment this Saturday night as the Tri-State Speedway hosts the wild and unpredictable OCRS Sprint cars. Round up as many friends that you can get and shove them in your car or truck and drive them out to the speedway and get ready to feel some thunder!
