Hanover, PA — (May 16, 2014) — Robbie Kendall got the monkey off his back at Trail-Way Speedway Friday night, holding off all-time winner Brad McClelland by a scant .22 seconds to score his first win of the year in the 25-lap Insinger Fuels “358” championship and the $1,200 that went with it.

“My guys needed this one,” said Kendall upon exiting the Mike Paris-owned Turning Stone Resort & Casino/Wurtzer’s Garage/Travis Racing Engines #55 in victory lane, “We lost a motor one week and a drive shaft the next week…and we should have had two wins already this year.  But it’s good to be back.”

Kendall started on the outside of row two and took the lead on the first lap.  He was scored the leader of every lap despite heavy late-race pressure from McClelland, who started sixth and crossed under the checkered flag less than a carlength behind.

“He’s always fast here,” said Kendall of McClelland, “And we’re here to beat him.”

Cody Fletcher started eighth and caught outside front-row starter Denny Gross for third on lap 20.  Gross crossed fourth, and Wyatt Hinkle, running only his second sprint car race, rounded out the top five.

Heat wins went to Kendall and Gross.

Cam Zeigler ended an eventful Precise Racing Products/Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic 25-lap “358” late model feature, scoring his first win as part of the Leinbach race team.

Zeigler started seventh, hit the tractor tire while racing with Travis Mease for fourth on lap three, went to the back after a collision with Kyle Lear on lap 14, and came back through the field to catch Tyler Horst for the race lead on lap 21.  From there, he drove away to a 1.37-second win over Horst, who actually took the Precise points lead with the runner-up finish.

Third through fifth were James Jesmer, Jr., Mease, and Jeffrey King.

Qualifiers were won by Zeigler and Lear.
