Bright rallied from 10th to place second during the ARDC Midgets event, which marked his 13th top five of the season.

“As a driver I don’t like anything but winning so the second place was kind of a disappointment,” he said.

Bright opened the night by winning his heat race after starting on the outside of the front row. That lined him up 10th for the 20-lap main event.

“We always run good there,” he said. “The track was real rough. It was kind of tricky. There were only a couple of lines you could run or you had to muscle through the ruts.”

Bright maneuvered into second place with approximately three of four laps remaining.

“I was running the leader down in traffic,” he said. “I was ready to make a move on him and then a caution came out with two laps to go. I got a pretty good restart, but he was better than me in turns one and two. I think I was better in turns three and four.

“On the last lap I got a good run on the backstretch. We were dead even going into turn three and he started pinching me into the inside wall so I kinda backed off. He ended up beating me by a car length. I would have done the same thing if I was in his position. I guess I should have been more aggressive.”

Bright also competed in a wingless micro sprint race at Action Track USA in Kutztown, Pa., last Wednesday.

“I did something I never do,” he said. “I was messing around with the setup trying some R&D. The heat race setup did not work whatsoever. That really put me back.”

Bright finished fifth in his heat race after starting on the outside of the third row. That relegated him to the B Main, which he won.

“We went back to what we normally do and the car was an absolute rocket in the B Main and A Main,” he said.

After transferring into the main event, Bright advanced from his 21st starting position to just outside the top 10 before he was caught up in a crash approximately six laps into the feature.

“Two other cars got together and I already had a full head of steam going into the turn,” he said. “I guess I hit them pretty square. The top injection fell out and the car wouldn’t start up.”

Bright was unable to restart the race and he was credited with a 20th-place result.

He is slated for a busy week with micro sprint races at Action Track USA this Wednesday and at Lanco Speedway in Newmanstown, Pa., on Saturday. Bright will race a midget on Friday at Big Diamond Speedway in Pottsville, Pa., and on Sunday at Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville, Pa., with the ARDC.
