AVBBSS Opens Season at Angola

Cassopolis, MI —  (May 29, 2014) —  The 19th season of the Auto Value Bumper to Bumper Super Sprints (AVBBSS) begins on Saturday, May 31 at Angola (IN) Motorsport Speedway in the “A Salute to the Legend – Hurryin’ Hank Lower” presented by Hot Rod Golf Carts and Indiana Warm Floors.

In addition to Winged Sprints, the racing program will also include Shepherd’s Chevy, Buick GM Late Models, Superior Auto Modifieds, Randy’s Trannys Plus Street Stocks and Bill’s Professional Towing Mini Stocks.

Last year at Angola in Hoosier Outlaw Sprint Series/AVBBSS action, Joe Swanson grabbed the July victory finishing ahead of Tim Cox and fast qualifier Chris Neuenschwander. Veteran Jimmy McCune scored the Labor Day Weekend win after leading the entire distance in the caution free event. Jo Jo Helberg and Jacob Wilson filled out the podium finishers.

Drivers that are expected to compete in the opener include five-time and defending series champion Jason Blonde, HOSS titlist and AVBBSS runner-up Joe Swanson, 2010 series champion Kevin Feeney and two-time Pay Less Little 500 Champion Jacob Wilson.

Winged Sprint Car Champion Brian Gerster, who has one AVBBSS victory on his resume will also be at Angola. McCune is the most recent Angola winner and also grabbed a third-place finish at the series finale at Sandusky (OH) Speedway last September. He is a six-time feature winner with AVBBSS. Kody Swanson will be behind the wheel of the Speed Chasers No. 64. He earned a series victory last August at M-40 and has swept the Silver Crown races in 2014.

Other drivers that will be in the starting field include Mike Astraukas, Teddy Alberts, two-time series event winner Ike Beasley, Davey Hamilton Jr., Kyle Edwards, Chris Neuenschwander, Kyle Henry and Ron Koehler among others. A strong field of Sprints Cars is expected for the season–opening event at Angola.

On Saturday, practice begins at 3 p.m., qualifying is set for 5:30 with the racing program beginning at 7.  Adult Admission is $15, Students & Seniors $13 and Kids 10 & Under Free.
