Andy Gregg and his Russell Motorsports picked up their third win in 2015 as Gregg wired the field on Saturday night to win during the always-popular Kids Night at Placerville Speedway.
“This night is always so cool to win at with all of the young fans in attendance, but now being a father myself it makes it even more special,” Gregg said.
Getting his Saturday night off to a great start, Gregg would time the Capitol Ace Hardware/Thompson’s Toyota/New Gen Landscape Management No. 14r machine in second fastest in time trials, before racing his way to a second place finish in his heat race.
Pulling the two-pill in the nightly redraw, Gregg would line up on the outside front row of the 25-lap feature event alongside pole sitter, Cory Eliason.
When the green flag waived on the race, Gregg was hard on the loud pedal as he jumped into the early lead with Eliason in tow. Getting into lapped traffic very quick on this night, Gregg was able to carve through with ease as the race for second heated up behind him.
Continuing to set a torrid pace around the ¼ mile bullring, Gregg would not feel any serious pressure from any challengers on this night as he would take the checkered flag first for the third time this year with his Russell Motorsports team.
“It has been and up and down year for this team, but nobody has given up and makes these wins that much more meaningful,” Andy Gregg added. “We have been really fast all year but things have not gone our way, so we will enjoy this one and try to get another one this weekend. I really have to thank Scott and Kami Russell for their continued support as well as all the great partners that have aligned themselves with us.”
