Abbottstown, PA — (August 29, 2015) — Another historic night at Lincoln Speedway saw the next generation of Rahmers pull into victory lane, as Brandon Rahmer held off the late-race challenges of Lincoln points leader Brian Montieth to score his first career “410” sprint car win.

“I was trying to run my ass off to keep away from them,” said Rahmer when asked whether he knew if Montieth and 12th-starting Danny Dietrich were running second and third behind him, “I kept my speed up top. I didn’t know if Brian had enough to slide up in front of me going into three. That’s how Danny (Dietrich) got me the other two times I was in the front here. But I finally got to stand up here.”

“I was lucky enough to draw a good pill and start up front for the feature and it finally paid off,” added Rahmer.

Handicapping placed the Rahmer brothers on the outside of the front two rows for the feature. Polesitter Steve Owings took the lead at the outset and led the first two laps, with Freddie dropping back to fifth at outset and Robbie Kendall and Tim Glatfelter moving into third and fourth.

Brandon caught Owings for the lead on lap three and led the rest of the way, with plenty of action in behind. Freddie recovered to advance to second after catching Owings on lap eight.

As the Rahmer brothers led, tenth-starting Brian Montieth and leading Lincoln feature winner and 12th-starting Danny Dietrich were methodically working their way through the field.

Montieth caught Grasso for third on lap 12 and chased down Freddie by the 17th lap. He and Freddie made contact exiting turn four of that lap, pitching Freddie into the outside guardrail on the front stretch and ending Freddie’s night. Also caught up in the crash was fourth-place Grasso and Randy Bachman.

Montieth never stopped and assumed second for the restart, with Owings third and Dietrich fourth. One lap later, Dietrich disposed of Owings and made it a three-car race to the checkered.

Though he pulled alongside several times, Montieth was never able to get by the Miller Brothers Chevrolet/Wege Pretzels/ARAN Trading #88. Rahmer’s final margin of victory was .53 seconds, with Dietrich a close third, Owings fourth, and Friday night Williams Grove winner Austin Hogue fifth.

Rounding out the top ten were 20th-starting Gerard McIntyre, Jr., Kendall, Cory Haas, 19th-starting Alan Krimes, and 22nd-starting Jimmy Siegel.

Heats for the 26 410’s were won by Montieth, Kyle Moody, and Kendall, with Krimes winning the consolation.

Mt. Union’s Ralph Morgan scored his eighth win of the year in the “358” late model feature event, crossing a convincing 3.53 seconds ahead of Shaun Jones. It was the first career Lincoln win for Morgan, who has already won five races at Hesston and a race each at Hagerstown and Path Valley this year.

Gene Knaub was third, with Eric Irvin and Cam Zeigler completing the top five.

The event was marred by a 14-car pile-up which blocked the track in turn three of the first lap.

Heats for the 26 358 Late Models were won by Morgan, Brad Shank, and Shaun Jones, with Dan Zechman winning the consolation.

Kory Sites claimed his first win in five years in the 20-lap street stock feature. Sites, who came out of retirement by running a few events last year, started on the front row and followed polesitter Jason Townsend for the first three laps. He wrestled the lead on lap four and held off Mike Potts over the final 15 laps.

Third through fifth were Doug Bennett, Bob Scott, Jr., and Michelle Walls.

Heats for the 26 Street Stocks were won by Townsend, Sites, and Bennett.

Next Saturday night, September 5th at 7 PM, Lincoln will host the J.L. Howard Memorial featuring the final point race of the season for the Lawrence Chevrolet 410 Sprints. In addition, the 358 Sprints will be competing in another Trail-Way/Lincoln “Shootout” weekend event. Rounding out the evening will be the Super Sportsman and FIREWORKS. Gates will open at 5 PM with racing action getting underway at 7 PM.
