Port Royal, PA — (October 17, 2015) — A heavy rain and sleet downburst that hit Port Royal Speedway on Saturday afternoon forced speedway officials to cancel the night’s 410 sprint and URC sprint racing program.

Interest in the event was hight and athough colder than normal temperatures were forecasted, the speedway pushed forward with plans for racomg in conjunction with Port Royal Foliage Days, a festival held around the grounds throughout the weekend.

However intermittent showers earlier in the day and sporadic sunshine turned to heavier rain and sleet later in the afternoon that produced a racing surface that could not have been ready for the 4:30 warm up time that was needed in order to complete the event before temperatures became too harsh later in the evening.

Thus, the oval will now end its season next Saturday, Oct. 24 at 5 pm when it hosts the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars and Mid Atlantic Modifieds.
