Tommy Tarlton has a knack for locking into the Johnny Key Classic, and with his win at the Ocean Speedway on Friday night, the Easton, CA driver is again locked into the August event.

“We had a really good racecar and we were able to go out and pick up a big win for our team, and lock into the Johnny Key Classic,” Tommy Tarlton said.

Going out in the last group of time trials, Tarlton would time the Elite Landscape Construction/Tarlton and Son, Inc./Executive Auto Sales No. 21 machine in sixth fastest before racing his way to a heat race win.

Moving into the Dash, Tarlton would take advantage of his front row starting spot and race to the win, and earn the right to lead the field to the green flag for the 30-lap feature event.

Out front, Tarlton would show he had a strong car as he kept the field at bay and soon found himself in lapped traffic. In dense traffic, Tarlton would feel pressure from a surging Tyler Walker, but the Easton, CA pilot would continue to set the pace out front.

With Walker continuing to threaten Tarlton, and make the race for the lead an exciting one, a late yellow flag would waive and give Tarlton clear track for the single file restart. Hitting the loud pedal when the green flag dropped, Tarlton would leave the field in his wake as he raced his way to his second win of the season, and as previously mentioned locked himself into the Johnny Key Classic slated for August 20th at the Ocean Speedway.

“It got pretty exciting there in the closing laps, but I knew I had a great car and I kept hitting my marks,” Tarlton added. “I really have to thank my crew for all of their hard work, and all of our partners for their dedication to this team.”

Tarlton Motorsports would like to thank Elite Landscape Construction, Tarlton and Son, Inc., Executive Auto Sales, Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino, Pabco Gypsum, Bandy and Associates, All Star Performance, Corporate America Investments, and BG Lubricants for their support through the 2016 season.

ON TAP: Tommy is unsure if he will be in action this Friday night at the Ocean Speedway, but should be back in action on July 29th.
