O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions to start 2010 with seven sizzling nights of racing

From Kelly Brown

During the off-season fans and racers alike start counting down to the day that they will be back at the track. Today the O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions revealed the dates that everyone can start counting down to when they released the dates of their 27th Annual Florida Speedweek Winter Nationals. This year Winter Nationals will feature seven thrilling nights of racing at three notable tracks in the Sunshine State.

The 2010 edition of Winter Nationals will kick off at Ocala Speedway with two nights of racing action on Friday, January 29th, and Saturday, January 30th. Ocala hosted its first All Star race in fifteen years last year when both Tim Shaffer and Terry McCarl won a pair of breathtaking races. In the twelve events held at 3/8 of a mile bullring there has yet to be a repeat winner. Will one lucky driver be able to break the streak and make All Star History this season?

After two nights in Central Florida, the All Stars will first travel to the West Coast to the birth place of Speedweek. Volusia Speedway Park was the site of the first All Star Winter Nationals race in 1983 and it has been hosting All Star Speedweek events since Kenny Jacobs took the Checkered Flag twenty-seven years ago. Since then the track has been a staple of Speedweek hosting seventy-four races in twenty-six years of racing action. This All Star year history will be made at Volusia Speedway Park on Wednesday, February 3rd, and Thursday, February 4th.

After two nights on the East Coast of the Sunshine State, the All Stars will be traveling to the Gulf Coast to East Bay Raceway Park. Beginning on Thursday February 11th the All Stars will embark on three nights of exciting race action at the 1/3-mile clay banked oval. East Bay Raceway Park first showed up on the All Star’s Winter National schedule in 1984. Since then East Bay has hosted over 70 All Star races.
